Why did you pick this product vs others?: Effective softner, works well for travel RV. Converts very hard water to soft. Uses about half the recommended amount of salt (26 ounces vs the 52 ounces per instructions) still very effective at softening.

    • Poor quality and support.
The head cracked after a few months. There is no customer support. Emailed the company twice with no response.

    • Hot tub water softener
I have very bad water and i purchased this to us when filling my hot tub. This worked great. Removed the sulfur small and hardness before filling. Great produce for bad water.

    • It's small and inexpensive but leaks from head fittings.
I like that it's relatively inexpensive, but looking back I can see drawbacks in function and design. The brass fittings eat into the plastic head. Water is dripping slowly between th head and the fitting of the out-side. Maybe use pipe dope to help instead of tape. Don't use the hose that came with it, it's really weak. Regeneration is going to be tough because you have to unscrew the head but remove the hoses first unless you have disconnects. Buy the 'On the go' units. You just have to unscrew the top cap for salt regeneration. Too much of a hassle to send back. Buy nice or buy twice. ... show more

    • Large water filter with all the accessories needed
I have found that this RV water filter takes about 5-10 mins to set up. It comes with teflon tape that I used on all the fittings. Our water is so hard that it leaves a mineral residue on everything. It includes the hose that connects then water source to the softener and has an optional single and Y adapters with diverter to turn off the flow of water from the source. I can connect a second hose to the water source without have to physically disconnect the water softener. The output has a 3/4 in fitting that hooks up to either the stand adapter or a quick release. ... show more
