  • Reliable well built chicken door
I went through two automatic chicken doors from Amazon that broke in the first four months. I saw this one had good reviews so I bought it even though I didn't want a battery powered door. This door has been amazing! The app is so easy, the door works flawlessly, minus one time it got stuck from a little bit of chicken poop the got through the tiny crevice on the track. I brushed the poop out and opened and closed the door a couple times and it's been fine ever since. I've had this for about 8 months and I haven't had to change the battery once. It is nice because it alerts you when the batteries are low as well. Highly recommend this door! ... show more

  • Gives A Sense of Security
I used to be tied to opening the door in the morning and closing it at night. If the door was not closed at night the raccoons wreaked havoc on my chickens. I consider my chickens pets so when they were killed it distressed me. We couldn’t go on a trip over night and not worry. This door is great and works flawless. I installed it about a month ago just using the pre programmed opening and closing time. Couldn’t be better. It’s a great addition to my coop. ... show more

  • This Door Saves Lives, Money, and Gives Freedom & Peace of Mind
I love this door and company so much! This is the third door I’ve ordered so all my coops have Run Chicken doors now (yes, three coops - chicken math got a little out of hand). I bought my first door a year after my friend got one and was delighted with it. FREEDOM FOR YOU. PROTECTION FOR YOUR FLOCK. One of the challenging parts about being a chicken tender, is making sure all the chickens are tucked in at bedtime to protect them from predators. We have raccoons, coyotes, minks, hawks, eagles, owls, etc. I lost my sweetest hen to a raccoon the night I was late getting home before I got my Run Chicken doors. Now I have the peace of mind if I can’t get home before dark. I live in the PNW, so it gets dark here at 430pm during the winter. There are light sensors if you want the doors to open and close with the sun. I haven’t had any issues with the light sensor, even on the darkest days in the winter when it feels like the sun never even woke up that day. You can also program it to open/close at specific times. My silkies are always last to bed, so I set their door to close a little later. SAVE $ ON CHICKEN SITTERS. If you ever want to go on vacation, this door will pay for itself in what you’d pay for chickensitters! Now I just need someone to come every couple of days to refill water and food and make sure everyone is doing ok instead of needing someone to come over 2x day let out/feed and bedtime tuck-in. SAFE FOR CHICKENS. (Even the not-so-smart ones like my “special” Karen). The door won’t shut on your chickens and has safety features so nobody will get crushed in the door. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! The customer support for these doors is fantastic. They’re very responsive and absolutely take care of you and answer any questions. I just had one door that started acting a little weird. I emailed them and sent them videos and photos. They replaced the door free of charge and it arrived in just 3 days! I make sure and replace the batteries before winter, and other than that, that’s really all the upkeep they need. It’s ridiculously easy to install. I cannot recommend these doors and the company highly enough!!! If you’ve been on the fence about getting one, just do it! ... show more

  • Preliminary review
1st I want to start out saying that my Run Chicken door arrived fast and it great shape. I'm pretty handy with tools so this "seemed like" a piece of cake to install. Not so much. I wasn't able to install it til after dark, so I was wearing a headlamp which shouldn't be an issue since run Chicken specifically says the sensor doesn't recognize artificial lights like flashlights. Well then either this thing is possessed or thats false. Saying that I lost my cool and patience was an understatement. Once I had traced the opening and cut it out, I spent close to am hour just trying to screw the damn thing in. Twice I almost lost the screws but luckily found them in the dirt in the dark. Every time I looked in the direction of the door it would open... then close seconds later. Sooo eventually I took the motor and battery compartment off and was able to attach the door easy enough. I tried factory resets multiple times. Then trying to reinstall the motor and battery compartment was just a nonstop fight. Trying to thread those 4 tiny black screws while the wheel is trying to send the door up, then down. I then tried a different flashlight but same results. Unbelievably frustrating and a complete miracle I didn't lose any or all the screws. Just a small word of advice DO NOT install this at night with the help of artificial light. Idk, maybe that's not the problem, maybe I just got a lemon. I guess I'll find out in the morning if my door is functioning properly. Fingers crossed, because I love the build quality of this door ... show more
