I think that my only complaint about this grill was the packing. It's over 100 lbs box in non-reinforced cardboard and 1980 technologies Styrofoam. I read other reviews that point out the same problems some reporting damage ro missing parts that may have even fallen out of the box I took a chance because I really like the idea of both gas and charcoal options and it has 3 burners on the gas side at a great price. Now the grill seems pretty flimsy while putting it together but once complete it is very stable and feels solid. I really like the smaller cooking area that each side provides (I'm not cooking for an army here). I'm not a grill pro but is seems like heat control is adequate especially with the adjustable charcoal pan. The only thing that I am worried about is rust so I would implore you to put anti rust inhibitor on every bolt/nut/screw and any areas that are chipped scratched or hinged and inspect regularly and just smear a thin coat of grease on any place that is or may rust. (I don't use covers), and that creates problems with water infiltration. When not using covers rain will fill up your grease trap on the gas side and will also intrude through the vents on top of the charcoal side. (if I had a cover it would be draped over my treadmill). All in all for $360.00 total you cant beat it as far as I'm concern. The biggest thing is that Royal Gourmet needs to work on the packaging ... show more

So this is my first "real grill" when I say real I mean not the cheaper round charcoal versions I've used over the years. Putting it together took time, but was simple enough. Its study and well made. Nothing currently makes me feel as if anything is flimsy or cheap and will break within a few uses. So far I've only cooked on the charcoal side, but it was great. The ability to raise and lower the heat bed was fantastic for cooking control. It was super easy to clean and use. My only hang up is the bottle opener that is supposed to go on the front cannot be attached. Nothing world ending. Not sure how much I would have used it anyway, but regardless I cannot attach it. The screw holes and the body do not line up and even trying to flex the unit a bit has proved unsuccessful. In one way its great that the grill is built so well as to not allow for such flex on the other side its a bit of shame I cannot fix it. Over all would highly recommend. May update this review once I use the propane side, but I have a feeling or hope nothing will change much. ... show more

Could not use product, email address on paperwork will not connect to company, the only really good parts of this grill are the remaining two knobs on the propane side and the burners maybe; i will not try to light it. the one that I got was in a good undamaged box, this damaged happened when it was packed at the factory, Look at the photo of each damaged part, you have to agree; I payed over $330 for a box of scrap metal. 12/17/20 New grill arrived, box was damaged grill had slight bend on one side but amazingly intact, used box to return damaged one, Amazon support was great, Amazon did not build or pack the grill. only sold and shipped it, Royal Gourmet needs better quality control. 6/23/2020: I notice that the paint on the top of the charcoal lid started peeling off after a few uses? I have not had that side over 450° F - The thermometer is rated for 900°F so far my only complaint. I was wondering if there is a warranty on the lid or a paint that we could paint to seal it and protect it from rust Does anyone read these? It does really work well though I was concerned about the product after reading all of the reviews, mine came in good to better condition. You really need two people to put this together. The top is heavy, but well Built. Some of the instructions were confusing. for the right and left tray you have the same exact instruction. (Should have your quality people look at that) I am enjoying the grill. Already used both the charcoal and the gas side. it would be nice to be able to modify two items: Adding a side burner on the grill, Being able to direct the smoke from the charcoal side into the gas side. Over all I would give the grill a 5+ adding a directional and the gas burner I would give it a 10 out of 5 ... show more

Update: 2 years later: It has been great having the choice of charcoal or gas. BUT, I found rain gets inside so you must keep it covered. The two wheels with the logo stamped on are made of plastic and have broken off the axle. The idea is great, but the manufacturing needs improvement. I bought this a month ago, but could not put it together at that time. The carton looked fine. It is one month later and I open the box to assemble and find scratches, dents, warping and some loose parts floating in the box that turns out are belonging to the charcoal tray that was flopping around partially assembled. Since I am outside the window of a return, I am assembling it anyway, but I am so very disappointed to receive something in this bad shape. ... show more

Step 1 - Assembly. Unpacking and assembly is straightforward Though - discovery of damage from shipping is very disappointing. You can see from the pictures that better packaging could have prevented the dents and rippling of the sheet metal. Pic1-2 dents on back of unit lid Pic 3-4 ripples on lip of unit lid Pic 5-6 dents inside of gas side unit base Pic 7-8 dents inside of wood side unit lid If the packaging was re-useable we would consider a return... but we are marching forward. Perhaps completed unit will work amazingly - and we can improve the rating ... show more
