Description

From the Swing Bass 66 range, this is Billy’s custom signature set using his preferred 43-110 gauges. The most popular Roundwound bass string ever. Rotosound was the first string company to produce this kind of string. Introduced in 1962 it changed the sound of the instrument instantly. The favourite string of many players including Billy Sheehan, John Paul Jones and Geddy Lee. Available in all popular gauges and scale lengths. The steel used to produce these strings is unique, combined with a highly secretive manufacturing process. From the Manufacturer These strings, custom gauged by Billy Sheehan, provide the time tested Rotosound Swing Bass 66 standard set with two special advantages: A slightly lighter G provides a more even string to string tension across the neck and makes bending easier. A heavier E string makes for a tighter low end with increased mass for more volume in the lower register. The 0.110″ gauge also facilitates tuning down to a low ‘D’ without the string bottoming out or loss of intonation.

  • Rotosound the best sound.
For the past 40 years of my bass playing life, Rotosound has always been the best, most unique sound of any string. This specialty set has a bit more lows, and snappier highs. Just what I want.

  • Just buy it.
can't go wrong with Rotosound. Thier lifespan for max brightness is short lived but they still sound great.

  • Best roundwound set I've ever played.
These are some of the best bass strings I've played. It's hard to improve on the classic Swing 66 strings that John Entwistle helped develop back in they heyday of The Who, but these really nail it. These are basically that same set but with modified gauges. Compared to the standard 45-105 set the G is lighter at a 43 and the E is heavier at 110 so the tension across the strings is very even and your E doesn't flop around even when you tune down to D. Across all strings they are significantly more pliable than most others I've played, which makes a huge difference since I have issues from old hand injuries. The stainless wrap and hex cores make these strings very pingy and articulate whether I'm playing fingerstyle or using a pick. Currently have them on my two main bases - a Stingray and a Reverse Jaguar. ... show more

  • Wow just amazing tone
I’ve used a lot of different name brands over the years but not so much the rotosounds because of the price being a little more. Overall just an excellent set of strings, the best tone and resonance I’ve heard in a long time. You can’t go wrong with purchasing these for any type of sound your looking for. A++ ... show more

  • Great Strings!!!
These strings are great! Even if you don’t play like Billy Sheehan, they are a perfectly balanced gauge. I use them on my Fender made in Mexico precision bass. Really clear and bright sounding with a pick or playing finger style. Highly recommended. Very good price for rotosounds also. These will be my everyday set of strings. ... show more

  • I like these more than I thought I would.
Thicker E for the heaviness? Lighter G for the bendy Cliff Burton squeals? Yeah these are great. I'm enjoying them a lot.
