  • Good Quality, Strong, Durable and Waterproof
This is my very first purchase of a cargo bag or any kind or cargo roof carrier. I've looked at cargo boxes vs cargo bags. I went with the bag due to the ease of set up, removal and stow away. I ordered the 16 Cubit Feet for our 2018 ford explorer. it was exactly what we needed. The product itself was great. It is exactly what they advertise. I was very happy with it. It is strong and definitely waterproof. Great quality materials and easy to fold after use. We drove over 1,000 miles this summer and the bag performed excellent. We drove in light and very very heavy rain and wind. And the bag protected our items. No rips, no noise on the road. Even driving over 75 MPH.... But I did notice a slight dip in our MPG as mentioned in other reviews of bags and cargo boxes. So that's nothing out of the ordinary. Although you don't need a roof rack but having a cross bar was very helpful. One issue with 16 cubit or a larger bag is that it has to sit on top of the rear cross bar. But it did very well. And I love the fact that you can remove and fold the bag away when we reach our destinations. But here are things I've learned in general for this product or any other carrier bags. First, I had an item that was slightly taller. Although it fit in the bag with other items, but due to the low clearance of our garage, I had to load that item in the bag outside of the garage... And yes, you've guessed it.... In the rain.... Second, getting up and down with opening and closing the bag was getting tiring. We had a long road trip needing overnights in hotel to get to our destinations the next day. To avoid going up and down all the time, we packed a few clothes in one separate bag and keep inside the car with us for the overnight stay to avoid going up and down to unzip and zip the bag. Especially when it rains. That's the only time your items will get wet. Third, Not sure why, but they did not include tie down hooks. Although it doesn't matter if you have a roof rack. But if you don't, those tie down hooks definitely helps. I bought an extra strap with those tie down hooks for extra protection. As for a carrier bag, I think this is the best one out of all the others that I've searched. After our long trip under the natural elements, I have to admit that the bag performed very well. ... show more

  • Easy and useful!
Used appropriately, this is a really nice and sturdy car top carrier. It went on (older Nissan Xterra with the factory roof rails) and packed easily. I tied it down with an extra rope just in case a buckle gave out, because I do believe in going overboard with securing your load so you don’t lose it and kill someone, but the provided straps were quite sturdy and easy to get tightened down. I was happy that the straps were designed to go over the top instead of being sewn onto the sides - this gives some extra security. There was a little extra road noise, but with securing the ends of the straps so there was no flapping around, the extra noise was minimal. We did not encounter rain on this initial trip, but installed correctly, this thing sure seems like it will be as waterproof as a soft carrier can be. (Nothing with zippers and seams can ever be 100% waterproof under all conditions.) You do have to understand the nature of packing and of soft-sided carriers. Don’t use this to pack hard things or things with pointy corners/edges (use it for your soft luggage like duffles and for sleeping bags or tents that are packed correctly with the poles on the inside). Holes will wear in the fabric as you drive. Don’t pack it partway full; it needs to be filled - if there’s too much slack, the extra material getting caught in the wind will wear faster, potentially in a matter of hours. If you want to do either of those things, you need to buy a hard shell carrier. Yeah, those are more expensive. These are the trade-offs you make for having something cheaper and easier to store when it’s not in use. Finally, do follow the instructions for how to install it. I can see in some of the photos posted here complaining about this item that it was not installed according to the included directions. You can’t fault a product for not working correctly when it wasn’t used correctly. I’m quite happy with this carrier, and I know it will continue to be useful! ... show more

  • Did the job perfectly even while driving through rain
I used this rooftop carrier on a one-day 900-mile trip, strapped to the roof of my Honda Accord. It did the job perfectly even while driving through rain. I had worried that the container might let in water, slide backwards, or somehow open during the drive, but none of that happened. The rubber mat (similar to the kind that goes under a rug) held the carrier in place firmly and provided a little cushion to protect the roof surface. Since the Accord has no built-in rail or rack system, I purchased separately a set of loop attachments that hook onto the door openings underneath the weatherstripping seal. Those were easy to attach and remove, and seem to have caused no harm to the car. I did not use the straps that are provided with the carrier. Their latch placement did not allow me to tighten the straps as tightly as needed, although they would probably be fine on a wider vehicle or one that has a carrier rail. Instead, I used a pair of inexpensive 1-inch wide ratcheting straps to cinch the bag in place. I would recommend them anyway as a more reliable latching system. I have only used the bag once, so do not yet know its durability over time and repeated use, but the build appears solid with good stitching and heavy fabric. The zipper looks very rugged and when the bag is loaded, an integrated flap folds down to cover the zipper and is held in place with Velcro strips. All in all it is a thoughtful design. When not in use, it folds down to a fairly compact size and can be kept easily in the Accord’s trunk with much room to spare, which as a hybrid vehicle trunk is not especially spacious. ... show more
