Not only was the box inside the box ripped, had holes and was held together with tape it was missing parts (tube supports, channels that hold slats, etc). In process of returning item. Obviously a return just put back on shelf with no inspection of item.

Received it yesterday and assembled it. I read in another review that things didn’t fit well. It’s true. The holes in the cross bars were off just a little bit and it took some force to get the bolt in. Finally got it assembled. Then took it out to install it and discovered the rusty spots. I must say I am disappointed with that. Now what? Disassemble it and return it for another one? That will probably have the same problems. Or keep it and repaint it some day after doing rust removal. Overall it’s pretty nice except for these few issues. Which I hope EMPI will address with a better QA program. Anyway, now you know one more experience with this product. ... show more

For 200 bucks, you can’t beat it. Cheapest rack out there. Shipping was fast and arrived on time. Only thing is that some screw holes wouldn’t line up. A quick drill fixed that issue and it is solid! The wood is also very flimsy so the first upgrade I will be doing is finding a harder wood to hold more weight. I was also short 2 washers and 1 rubber mount piece but I made it work. Holds cargo and looks great. Kind of a PITA to assemble, but definitely gets the job done. Pro tip: get to the hardware store and get nylock nuts to replace the wing nuts. Theft deterrent.
