  • Excellent resource.
This book has a lot of really good information. That thing I like about it most is that it's the information that applies to everyone, regardless of where you live. It's basically answering questions about things that everybody deals with and not just in the area that you're living in. I really think this book is going to be helpful for me and my beekeeping. ... show more

  • Tanya's book is a great overall guide for beginner beekeepers
Tanya's book is a great overall guide for beginner beekeepers. It has tons of beautiful pictures, easy to follow text and instructions, and the basic information anyone needs to start beekeeping confidently. As an intermediate beekeeper with 2 warre hives and 2 top-bar hives, I sure wish I had had this book when I first started beekeeping! I find the information pertinent, relevant, and clearly laid out. I also learned or was reminded of quite a few things I did not already know, and very practical tips about swarming, cross combing, record keeping. Great all around beginner to intermediate book and a good place to start for any new beekeeper. Also, I bought it for myself, but my 12 year old son ended up taking it for himself and has been avidly reading from it, probably because the explanations, the pictures and the layout are very reader friendly instead of dry and hard to read like most other books on the subject. I highly recommend this book to any beginner to intermediate beekeeper, great all-around info book! ... show more

  • Great we'll balanced book with great photos and organic options
I've had a few beekeeping books and this one isn't my automatic go-to for information but it definitely balances out the overly heavy-in-details books I have already. It balances out the dry textbook variety with it's huge array of high quality photos. It's fascinating enough that my teen boys have now taken an interest in it as well. They did a great job editing and planning out this book. It's also super strong in the organic alternatives. Again, a great plus over what I had before. I feel like this book is pretty well rounded and also pretty. The only reason I took off a star is because it's a little simpler information wise. If they had really worked on it textbook and info wise I would have tossed the rest of my books and just kept this one, but at least I can just keep two now and be happy. ... show more

  • B-eautiful approach to the Basics
As a newbee beekeeper, I was looking for a book that would be informative and a pleasure to read. The content confirmed much of what I learned from a beginning beekeeping class, but it was the layout that made it real. Great pictures and flow. Highly recommend

  • Another Good Beekeeper book
This is an excellent book for beginning beekeepers and one of five that I ordered. I wouldn't use this as a sole source for getting started in beekeeping, but one of many sources. The book is well written with many illustrations and photos of what your getting yourself into with Honeybee's.
