My 2018 RAV4 started displaying "maintenance required" so I figured I would try this to see what the problem is. Per the device's systems review, no problem. Apparently, it's just the every 5,000 mile go to the dealer for service racket. I thought an OBD reader like this might be required to reset the maintenance required message, but it doesn't do that. That is something you do from your info display- see YouTube. I am guessing this is an entry level product since other ROMONDES readers have higher numbers. The documentation is inadequate. You get a very hard to read, MICRO PRINT information sheet which barely gets you started. The company's website support page promises documentation and error code descriptions are "coming soon" - but they are not there now. Plug in under the dash was obvious - only powers up after car power is turned on, and only reads after engine is started. Then you have to fumble through (up, down, back, enter) the screen menu choices. Enough to tell me there were no problems, but if there were, I am not sure I would be able to interpret what. ... show more

It will take a bit more to get used to. Mainly got this to see what my check engine light was on for and it was for a sensor that was going bad. Works well so far and helped cleared my check engine light as well. Looking forward to using this more and seeing all of the features that it has.

I find this to be a very useful tool to keep around when the vehicle hiccups. Several months ago, my truck's check engine light lit up on my dash, I brought it to my dealer to check it. They claimed that they had to charge me $125.00 to hook it up to a computer just to find what was happening. They found the O2 sensor was generating the error. Then they offered to replace it for an estimated $500.00. The truck is still drivable, so I declined and disconnected the battery when I got home to clear the error. That cleared the engine light error but now I am curious to why it hasn't reoccurred. I got my OBD2 Diagnostic Scan Tool last week, tried it out today and found the O2 sensor is still working well but now I have my own tool to monitor it and many other problems that give me a measure of protection to be able to see what's going on. I am happy with this product. It is easy to use, and I think it will pay for itself many times over in the future. A good investment. ... show more

This code reader is a very entry level code reader but for many of the codes that your computer will put out it is adequate most of the time. I read once that somebody said the scan codes are not a magic genie in a bottle and I wholeheartedly agree with that comment. I have the same scanner in each of my cars because you never know when the computer will put out a flukey code and you can at least see what the code is on the road and maybe even reset it because sometimes just resetting a code will make it never to return. I highly recommend it for beginners who have interest in the OBD2 scan codes. The OBD2 scan codes are almost 100% universal from around the year 2000. With this product, you need not fear the check engine light coming on your dashboard and having to go and spend sometimes $100 or more on getting a diagnostic. If you're resourceful on the internet or perhaps have subscribed to a Facebook forum that is based around the model car that you have using this tool along with the internet and along with YouTube will get you very far in diagnosing a problem if you have the time, the patience, and the interest in doing so. This product has no batteries, it powers itself from your car's 12-volt system when you plug it into the OBD2 connector. To me, it is a great item to have for basic OBD2 scan codes. ... show more

This little OBD2 scanner is simple and easy to use. It can do all your essential code reading and resetting along with good live data.
