I put this in a 2014 Ford F150 Quad Cad truck. Having installed 12's and 15's back in the day, I wasnt really expecting much out of a compact 8. BOY WAS I WRONG! This little thing packs a serious punch! I wanted to give a few days before I wrote my review, so I could cover a variety of different music. The only thing this little guy wont pull, is the long hard bass drops. Its sounds fantastic with everything else. Especially hard rock and metal. Country thumps, heck even Jesus jams bump a little. This is VERY VERY impressive. Worth every little red cent. Im a little mad as myself for not getting one sooner to be honest. Seriously. Buy it. You wont regret it. ... show more

I purchased this mainly because of its value and compact size. Did not know much about the Rockville company nor if this was a good sounding subwoofer, but the reviews on it were favorable and I must admit they helped with my buying decision. On the positive note, the construction is solid. The casing is made out of aluminum and it's decently hefty in weight. This was an A+ considering that nowadays everything seems to be made out flimsy plastic or cheap MDF. The size was perfect for my application. It was discreet and not a huge bulky laundry box like some other designs. I'm positive that it will fit under the seat of any vehicle. On the opposite side, while the installation is not difficult, I must confess I ran into trouble connecting the unit with the coaxial rca audio cables. The sub did not response nor turn on unless it receives a signal from your head unit that it is connected to the front & rear speakers. This was a huge disssapoinment since this was the prefer installation method according to the instruction manual. Luckily, the unit can be connected to the front & rear speakers using separate cables for each speakers which requires more wires to be run. This was a more cumbersome connection but after it was done the sub worked just fine. I should've returned the unit and get a new one, but I had already gone to the trouble of running more wires to get it to work that I did not want to waste more time, and besides, there was no guarantees that the next one was not gonna have the same problem too, so I just decided to keep it. It does not produce an overwhelming neat bass sound, but it is relatively okay for its size and it's better than no bass at all. Again, I rated this in terms of value, construction, sound, and ease of installation. I do not pretend to convince anybody that this is an excellent subwoofer nor that is the worse. This will not shatter your windows nor shake your car. This is a great alternative for someone that does not have have a subwoofer in their vehicle and is looking for a buget friendly piece that is discreet and sounds good.     • The best $100 spent on car audio

In the last 2 years, I have upgraded the sound system in 3 of our vehicles with varying levels of Alpine head units and I have installed one of these in all 3 under the driver's seat. I love bass and love that this sub puts it right where I am in the car. I also love that I can really crank it up, but will not get any noise complaints from the neighbors. Also, it is way easier to run the power, sound and remote cables to a front seat than the typical subwoofer spot e.g. back of the vehicle. I installed one in a 2011 Ford Focus and it fits nicely under the seat and makes that system sound so good. I then installed one in my daughter's 2016 Ford Fusion. It is a tight fit under that seat and, if the seat has to be moved back, the sub has to be moved behind the seat because the seat moves downward as it moves back. Small price to pay for glorious bass. I recently upgraded the system in my 2021 Pacifica and was so happy to be finally able to add a sub. I ended up going with the used offering here on Amazon and loved the substantial savings. ... show more

    • Overall Good Subwoofer to fill in mid-bass

I have a 1993 Saturn SL1 and I have been trying to get adequate bass in the car. For one the car is not very sound proof, you can hear all the road noise, bumps and what not's. The trunk for some reason has very good sound proofing, so it is hard to pass bass from the trunk to the passenger compartment. My set up is fairly simple, I have 2 Crunch PA1400.2 running front and rear, I have a JBL 400w RMS running Rockford Fosgate Prime Dual 10" Sub Box in the trunk. The issue is I can get the thump, but I am missing the mid to mid-bass in the passenger compartment. Since I do not want to cut holes in the rear door to mount additional speakers I found this and thought maybe this will work. I mounted it on the rear parcel shelf right in between the 2 rear speakers. I set the trunk Rockford Fosgate Prime Dual 10 crossover to run from dc to 90 HZ and set the Rockville SS8P 400w 8" Slim crossover to run from 90 HZ to 125 HZ and set the High-pass filter on the front and rear to cut off at 100 HZ. Now you want to talk about bass, this fills in great as a mid to mid-base speaker. I get mid to mid-base fill-in in the passenger compartment and I get the punch and hard hitting base from my subs in the trunk. The product has good built quality, it was easy to install even though i did not install under my seat (as it would not fit) I did call the MFG to find out if mounting it on the parcel shelf with it exposed to direct sunlight would be an issue and they said no it would not as it would have ample air flow, and direct sunlight on the top would not affect the electronics. The manual is straight forward, basically 3 wires, Positive (red), Ground (black) and remote turn on (blue), and RCA plugs. I just wired it into my distribution block, placed on the parcel shelf with adhesive and i was done, did not use the remote control as my deck has that feature built in. I know that my installation may not be standard, or I may not be using the product as designed a "SUBWOOFER" but as a mid to mid-base driver it delivers good solid reproduction in those ranges ( 90 HZ to 125 HZ), no distortion, no rattle in the cone, good disbursement of frequencies. This product did what I wanted it to do was fill in the mid to mid-base range. If you read my review please understand that I am not using this as a "SUBWOOFER", I cannot tell you how it preforms in that aspect, but I can tell you this is a solid product, has good build quality, has good sound ( in reference to my application of the product), has good customer and Technical Support Services, and for only $100 or so a good value. ... show more
