I installed this active subwoofer in my classic car, a 33-year-old E-Class convertible, and despite everyone insisting I needed to replace the stock speakers and add a separate amplifier, I believed otherwise. The stock speakers are fine—they just were never designed for today’s bass-heavy music. My theory was that if the deep bass tones were handled by the subwoofer alone, the system would perform well. And I was right. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. The original speakers now sound crisp and clear, and the entire car has a rich, deep bass that enhances any type of music. I could not be happier. I did not even tweak the subwoofer’s settings—once installed and powered on, it sounded incredible. I keep the remote power at its lowest setting, and it still delivers excellent results. Some say this subwoofer is just “okay” and too weak to make windows vibrate. My experience has been completely different—if you want vibrations, you can get them. In fact, you can make the whole car vibrate. Five stars from me. Fit under the back seat of my truck. Hookup is easy. Like the smaller holes in tge cover, keeps anything from getting to the speaker and damaging it. Sound is good. Like the remote control for adjusting the amount of bass.

It is what is is. You won't blow the doors off your car and it doesn't deliver the deeeep bass (its only a 10) but it adds enough to everyday listening in my older vehicle that doesn't have all the new audio upgrades. I’ve bought subs from Rockville before for my son and was impressed with the quality. I wanted to add more bass to my wife’s truck without being obnoxious. This setup met what I was looking for, and is good quality. I’ll update my review once installed.

It was super easy to install and fits under the seat easily and under the seat was exactly the right place to put it. I put it in the cargo area first (the back of my SUV) and the bass doesn't hit right. The bass was mainly bouncing around in the back. Once I put it up front under the passenger seat then the bass was bouncing around right where me and my wife are sitting. Once I tuned it with my setup the bass is pretty decent. It's not as much thump as I was hoping for though and frankly, I'm curious to why they call it a 10" when the case is too small to fit a 10" speaker. I wanted a 10" speaker because anything less won't have the thump I want. I guess I'll have to buy a second one to double the bass which then will be what I want. 5 stars anyway because BASS! ... show more

    • Great sound and features for the cost
The sound is great for this small unit. Like others have said, it provides the missing low end for a stock system but isn't going to rattle the doors or annoy the neighbors. The speaker high signal input is great so you can tap into the rear speaker wires instead of running a remote wire. The remote gain dial is handy to adjust bass volume on the fly without having to dig it out from under the seat. You can't beat the cost for this unit and you don't "get what you pay for." I installed this in my Jeep JT (without the Alpine upgraded system) and I'm very happy with the sound. I previously owned a JT that had the factory upgraded system that had factory subwoofer and this is comparable to that subwoofer as far as sound goes. Now to upgrade the dash and soundbar speakers.
