I've become a big fan of Rockford Fosgate products ever since I got my hands on a used Rockford Fosgate P2 10" subwoofer. So when the time came for me to find a replacement woofer for my vintage M&K home subwoofer, I immediately turned to Amazon & Rockford Fosgate to solve my problem! The R2D4-12 Prime R2 DVC 4 Ohm was the perfect match in ohm rating and was a DVC to match the woofer that died in this old box. After a few minutes with my drill and the included heavy duty screws that came boxed with the R2D4, I was ready to go. Even at the lowest volume, this woofer produces clean, beautiful bass that fills my office. And when I turn it up to listen to almost any kind of music, I can shake the windows in the living room and kitchen about 50 feet away! I have tested the woofer with various classical music, where it produced beautiful, natural tones, as well as with the Daft Punk soundtrack from Tron : Legacy, which had the house rocking. If you need a subwoofer for your car, or a replacement for a powered home subwoofer, this R2D4 will definitely do the job! ... show more

BUY THIS SUB!!! Have 2 hooked to my P500-2 amp that makes 689 watts and the subs seem to yawn at this even when everything is rattling and my eyes are watering and my eardrums are fixing to burst. No complaints from the subwoofers at being over powered and none from me, buy them you will be happy !!! They are 5 times the subwoofer of any similarly priced sub on Amazon or anywhere else for that matter. simply amazing sound for a great price, really why are you still reading this review buy the sub already. Not a big fan of these. I may have been expecting too much from such a small set of speakers at a price point this low but no matter what amp or audio settings I tried these were always super thin sounding and had very little of the mid-bass I was hoping to hear. Always a fan of RF but this one kinda let me down. Clear sounding speakers and all in all a nice product except for the overall frequency response. ... show more

I bought this sub to install in my '02 Yukon as part of a modest factory system upgrade. I installed one of these subs in a cubic foot sealed box w/ polyfill and it's powered by an older Fosgate 300 watt mono amp (P3001). The head unit is a JVC Arsenal 735BT which has 4.8 volt pre-amp outputs and I'm also running two pairs of Polk DB651's in the four doors. Compared to the 10 year old stock system it's night and day. This sub gives a real nice full bottom end sound that the stock 8" just wasn't providing. I listen to all kinds of music including classic rock, 90's hip hop and alternative, and I like live rock albums. This sub is flexible enough to handle some of the quicker kick drums associated with the rock music and still hit the low boomy notes in the hip hop tracks. It's only got a couple hours of listening on it so I expect for the boominess to come out at some point when it loosens up but I'll be able to adjust my head unit to compensate for it (hopefully). The construction of the sub seemed solid and it uses the push button terminals that you don't normally see in the lower priced subs, unfortunately the installation screws included are the stupid hex type screws that make it difficult to install or remove without the supply key bit (if you have extra screws around the house I'd suggest using those). This sub is a great value for the price and if you're on a budget or just looking to fill out the bottom end of your system I couldn't recommend this enough. While Fosgate kind fell off the track a few years back in my opinion this sub seems to show that they're back on the road to quality products that I used and loved in the 90's. I'm looking forward to upgrading my aging amp to one of the newer models they currently make. ... show more

I just want to say as my first set of subs WOW. I have two of these hooked up to a 1100 watt amp and they hit. The bass is smooth and not to over powering. Would definitely recommend these to someone looking for good smooth bass that isn't to over powering, and relatively cheap in price

This Sub is Crap. I've had it for about 5 months now in a variety of different boxes. Its max volumne is not very loud and it overall sound quality is poor, bass is muddy and distorted. It's currently in the R/T-300 vented enclosure and is being pushed by a Alpine MRX-M55 X-Power Series Mono Power Digital Amplifier. I will purchasing the NVX VSW124 600W 12" VS-Series Dual 4 ohm Car Subwoofer which has much better specs and not one bad review and it will also work in the R/T-300 vented enclosure. ... show more

I had one of these, in a sealed box, that I bought used. I think there was something wrong with it as it rattled when it "hit." I didn't pay much, so I bought a new one because they are inexpensive. Hooked up to a 250W Fosgate Amp, this thing hits harder than it should for what you pay. For what I am looking for, it's doing the job...and then some. Very happy with it so far.
