So worth the money! I had previously purchased a similar dual cleaning robot from another brand (same price point) and I was extremely disappointed. I thought, maybe I just had too high of expectations for a robot vacuum in the $400 price range. I decided to return the previous vac and give this one a Hail Mary last chance. I’ve had it for a week and could not be happier. -The AI in this compact robot vacuum is wonderful, it senses every obstacle (small, large, dog bowl, cords etc). Hardly bumps into anything! It mapped out my home in about 15 minutes and was highly accurate. -quiet for a vac -can choose the vac suction level and amount of water flow for mopping or you can do automatic to adjust to the level of soiling/floor type -app is great and very user friendly. I like that it shows me the exact path of where the vac went. I also like that I can pick which room/rooms I want cleaned at a certain time instead of having to select the whole house every time. -does a great job at vacuuming. I enjoy coming home and seeing the perfectly straight “lines” in the carpet -my only complaint is that the dust bin isn’t bagless. This is a super minor inconvenience.

UPDATED: Since submitting this review, Roborock has gone up above and beyond. I completely stand corrected on their customer service and will remain brand loyal. They replaced my unit, provided a $50 credit for any inconvenience, and tracked the shipment of my new unit until it was delivered to my home. Also, the whole Q8 system is working perfectly now, including the self-emptying feature. It’s a must-have for households with animals. The set up is quick and easy and the vacuum performs incredibly. Amazing suction… my house feels so much cleaner with my Q8. Thank you so much, Roborock! Original Review: I bought this Roborock in November 2024. The self-emptying feature has worked a total of three times. I followed all the instructions Roborock sent to remediate however, the issue still persists. Roborock wants me to mail the unit back for repair, which could take roughly a week for repair alone. Super inconvenient considering the size of house, the amount of people and dogs that live in it, and that I use this machine multiple times a day. I asked for an exchange, and they weren’t open to that idea. My suggestion would be to buy a less expensive Roborock without the self-emptying feature. Other than this key issue, the vacuum itself works quite well. I scored a 3-star for two reasons: 1. Customer service response didn’t meet my expectations or solve the problem (yet) without serious inconvenience. 2. The major reason I bought this vacuum was because I have a large house with dogs. Self-emptying was a big feature I needed. Well, this unit does not actually self-empty as advertised. I’ll add, this is my third Roborock. Because of my recommendation, my mom and sister also own a Roborock. I’m a huge stickler for customer experience. If you’re building a good product, it’s not that often that customer service is needed. That said, I expected more from Roborock with a unit this new (just exchange it, refurb the other, and resell it). I’m brand loyal, but this experience will make me look at other robot vacuum brands the next time I’m in the market for one. For now, I’m going to use this one as-is without the self-emptying feature I paid a premium for.

This is generally a pretty good item but there are a few issues that should be considered. The Good: - The app is intuitive and is pretty straight forward. It has been reliable and easy to use. - It does a great job of mapping the house and generally runs in a logical way. - One of my favorite parts is that this is a modular design and can EASILY be repaired by anybody of any skill level. For an expensive investment, this was important to me knowing that I can keep it running for years into the future. Excellent job! - Works very well on hardwood floors, though I have yet to try the mopping feature. The Bad: - I'm not expecting this to perform like an upright or a canister vac. That said, it does a really poor job of picking up pet hair on our throw rugs. I can go over it a half dozen times and it just doesn't get it up. I have uploaded a pic to show the hair remaining in it's path after going over it 6 times; yes you read that right. The beaters are clean as is the filter. The suction is also on high in this area. - My biggest gripe with the app is that you can't add rooms easily. You can only add them if you do a full clean and if you don't want to do a full clean you have to update the app to make no-go zones everywhere forcing it to go where you want so it adds rooms and then reset the map back to the way it was. There should be a better way to accomplish this. - Have pets? The dust bin is too small if you have dogs that shed, which was the main reason we got this. You must empty the bin every time it runs. Sometimes, it clogs up so fast that clumps of dog hair are dispersed all over the house. You really have to run it frequently to prevent this from happening. - My other throw rug problem is that the side brush spins and snags under the throw rugs preventing it from getting up on top the carpet quite frequently. This is frustrating, but I can't think of a better solution at the moment other than the brushes would have to more from the top than from the side. Conclusion: I do in fact recommend this robot vacuum. It does help keep the house cleaner. I tend to use a broom to pull dust and pet hair from the walls and corners first to improve results. I really love the modular design so we can keep it running well into the future. I really would recommend the self emptying Roborock if you have the $ to throw at it, especially if you have pets. We have the resources, but from a value perspective, it would have cost us nearly triple the cost for the self emptying feature since we got this one on sale. Perhaps in the future if this hold up well. I really with I could find a solution for all the pet hair being left behind as that is probably my biggest gripe. If you can accept some of the negatives outlined, I do recommend this item.
