  • Amazing FF1 action concept! Very addicting game play loop
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
The story isn't anything to write home about but the gameplay loop is incredible. There is a ton of functions and combos, as well as stats to keep you busy. Well over 20+ jobs to unlock , and skill tiers to do so. Tons of gear and equipment. The battle system is great, the finishers with critical on the PS5 dual sense are wonderful. You pickup a warg and "snap" it's back, or slam down a bomb into dust at your feet. You can feel the impact. Each job is different. Swordsman uses great swords, sword fighter -sword and board, Mage, sheild and mace, duelist -twin daggers, puglist-gloves, maurader- two handed giant axe, ronin - katana. Those are just the basic jobs. You unlock, Warrior, Dragoon, Black-red-and white mages, Paladin, Void Knight, thief, Knight, etc..... Each stage takes place on a world map that is the same from FF1. I still remember all these places from back when I played it on the NES in 1988! Villian bosses all have special moves and tells for defeating. Fun times. My only gripe is the equipment. You get tons of them but the stats are very small changing, a percent or +1 here and there. There hasn't been any custom power gear, that I have found. Sure there is rare gear but nothing special, and no set items. From the makers of Nioh, I expected more here. Don't get me wrong its still better than not having gear, but it could use some work, also the upgrade smithy is crap. Really no other way to describe that system along with the disassemble functions. At least they have a auto disassemble option for level complete in the settings. Pros vastly outway the complaints. I got the game on sale here for $25 and was way worth it. $69 no , but anything less than $50 and I would say go for it! ... show more

  • The team that made Ninja Gaiden's [Xbox] version of the original Final Fantasy
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
I, for one, am baffled at the amount of low ratings people have given this game. First thing, if you're giving this game a bad review because the game is too difficult, don't take your lack of ability to learn the game mechanics out on the game developers. There is also plenty of difficulty options including casual mode. Now that I got that out, this game is excellent. It is my favorite game of 2022 so far, and I've played Horizon Forbidden West, Kirby, and Elden Ring. This game is developed by Team Ninja, and it shows in the design. The combat is going to take some time to learn, but once you do it is so satisfying. Anyone feeling overwhelmed at first just pick one or two classes and stick with them, once you get used to them you can move on to others. There are tutorial missions for each class that shows you the ropes. I'm playing the game on normal and I haven't felt the need to lower the difficulty. Most bosses I can down in one or two attempts, and the checkpoints are forgiving and frequent. This game is the most "video game" a game has been in quite some time, it's just flat out fun to play. I mean what other Final Fantasy can you grab a bomb enemy, squeeze it to oblivion, and smash it against the floor into a million pieces? It is a blast! Try it out, don't let the negative ratings steer you away. ... show more

  • Base game is fun
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
Thought about buying the dlc, there’s quite a bit. Gameplay reminds me of pixelated ps3 graphics in the beginning outside of cinematics. Buffered out later on once I changed the graphics in settings lol. The ending song for the credits you wouldn’t think. Despite the memes, it was a nice playthrough. Learning the back story of Garland, changing roles constantly to get the full benefit of the variety of combat mechanics put into the game; best way to describe this game simply its basically like final fantasy dark souls without the self depreciation you feel from playing dark souls. Better for your mental health lol P.s. - a lot of loot drops, be prepared to empty your inventory after every run. ... show more

A great collection, I'm so stoked I was finally able to pick up a copy! So many classic FF games in one place, probably hundreds of hours of gameplay!

  • Ugly ugly game
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
Listen, the gameplay is fun. It is. Combat is solid. The job switching and leveling is a fun system. But this games lack of anti aliasing, along with the cringe script and performances, make this hard to recommend. The story lacks the ability to make me care about anyone or anything. The combat was the only thing keeping me engaged and playing. If that is enough for you, maybe give it a shot. Otherwise, nah. ... show more

Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
Story could use some work. but the gameplay is top notch. the job system reminds me of final fantasy 5 but the gamplay is top notch like nioh.

  • Excellent
Platform: PlayStation 4 Edition: Standard
This installment of the Final Fantasy games does not disappoint. Excellent graphics, smooth, the job system is pretty interesting and tailors to your playing style. The boss battles are far from easy, but the "dungeons" leading each has ample opportunity to level up your job. The equipment system also allows for jobs to level up when they aren't actually equipped to Jacks battle set. Overall, it's a refreshing title in my opinion. ... show more
