  • Seamless BMW Android Auto Retrofit with Outstanding Customer Service
I usually don't write reviews, but I felt compelled to express my gratitude for the exceptional assistance I received from this company. The product surpassed my expectations, prompting me to share my positive experience. If you're seeking an Android Auto integration for your BMW without sacrificing the functionality of your original head unit, this is undoubtedly the best option available. The retrofit seamlessly blends with the existing NBT system in my car, both aesthetically and functionally. Admittedly, the installation process for this device can be a bit cumbersome and frustrating due to the limited space behind the head unit and glove box. Maneuvering the wires and box in such tight quarters presents a challenge, but with patience, an average person can complete the installation within an hour or two. Once everything is properly set up, the performance is excellent, delivering an authentic factory-like Android Auto experience. During my usage of the retrofit, I encountered a couple of issues. The maps appeared pixelated, and the wireless Android Auto failed to connect automatically. However, after reaching out to the customer service team, they promptly provided an update that resolved these problems. There was also an issue with the maps not transitioning from light to dark mode at night, which didn't bother me much initially. However, recently, I contacted customer service again, even though it had been nearly three years since I purchased the device. To my surprise, they responded promptly, offering a patch for me to download and install, successfully fixing the problem. Dealing with unreliable companies in the past, I never expected such exceptional service for a device I've owned for three years. My only suggestion for the company would be to establish a website where customers can directly download updates specific to their devices, eliminating the need to email the company. Nonetheless, it is reassuring to know that the company is committed to resolving any issues that may arise with the retrofit. In conclusion, if you're in search of a reliable Android Auto retrofit for your BMW, this is undoubtedly a solid choice. The installation process is manageable, although a bit frustrating, and it offers a more affordable alternative compared to other options on the market. Moreover, the customer service provided is exceptional. I am extremely satisfied with my decision to choose this product. ... show more

  • Worth the buy! Great product & Customer Service
Everything works as intended! Best bang for the buck and the customer service was awesome as well. I forgot to transfer the fiber optics to the new harness and contacted support. They sent me a video and even said they could call or video to walk me step by step if needed. Super happy with it and definitely recommend it. 2016 F30 Bmw 328xi ... show more

  • Unit does not last
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Price point seemed very intriguing versus the much more expensive brands Ease of use: Unit lasted about 2-3 years with minimal use, starting glitching, caused my screen to turn off more and more, blue-tooth connectivity started to fail, wireless mirroring worked when it wanted to, YouTube NEVER worked even after contacted customer service from the beginning. Overall you get what you pay for and I personally would not recommend this unit, especially for longevity purposes. ... show more

  • Solid option for much less than others
I won’t name names, but if you are in the market for something like this you have likely done your research and wondered how this one can be so much less expensive than the others. They all use the exact same hardware and cables. So what gives? As far as anyone can tell, the only difference is the firmware on these. So I decided that this was a lot less risky than laying out close to $800 for the competitor and pulled the trigger. Installation took maybe 3 hours. And that was after spending may more watching videos and reading posts online to be as prepared as I could be. Actual installation wasn’t bad, but it can get tricky depending on how much room you have behind the head unit. It fits back there, but I got scratched up hands trying to get it arranged just so. And I still had to jam the HU back the last 1/2” and screw it into place. So I’m sure I won’t get any rattles from this. Some notes from my installation (on the X5): 1) that bottom plastic piece beneath the controls is a total PITA to get off. 2) on my car, they had these cable retaining clips that had the cables tape wrapped to them, so I had to pull of a lot of very sticky tape to get everything free 3) my main quad lock cable had very little play in it, making it difficult to get the HU out enough to work in the opening. 4) getting the hazard lite cable out was a little difficult. 5) they tell you to remove a battery cable, but also tell you to test everything before you put it all back together. That’s hard without the battery. I had to plug the condole strip back in to be able to trigger the Acc mode to test things out. 6) this kit comes with the plastic dash removal tools, so kudos to the vendor. 7) there is a firmware update feature, but I haven’t looked to see where to check if there are updates. And it was behind a PIN screen. The docs say nothing about this 8) the kit comes with some extra parts that you may not need depending on the vehicle. So don’t sweat it too much. 9) my unit was not at the default EQ setting or Loudness. Not sure if it changes from when the manual was printed or someone was messing around in QA and forgot to reset things 10) the sound feels lower, but no lower than when using BT or the USB cable. 11) I didn’t have to adjust the mic levels as some have posted about online, so this may be car dependent. Try it before you mess with settings. 12) I wish there were a way for these systems to use the built in USB ports vs the one on a cable that you have to leave hanging out the dash. Maybe it could be routed into the glove box, but I didn’t feel like adding more car surgery when I did the install so I just tucked it on the passenger side sticking out between the middle and lower sections. So far, it’s been good with startup spwed. It’s not longer than it takes the built in Nav to initialize. I did unpair my phone from BT with the car to avoid the issue of bouncing back and forth when you get a call. Things I haven’t really tested: Steering wheel support Multiple phones that are paired to CP Airplay So far, this is a solid choice. Now to see if there any firmware updates that I can/should apply. It’s brought new life to my X5 since the shutdown of AT&T 3G and the loss of RT traffic. No more need to update the Nav maps, no more wonky Spotify support with inexplicable loss of USB connectivity until a system reboot. ... show more

  • Great CarPlay Retrofit with Excellent Customer Support
I bought this product in Feb 2023. I was able to install it myself after watching some online installation videos. The CarPlay worked well until Nov 2024 when it started to have issues connecting to my iPhone. I reached out to Amazon support to get the Road Top Direct email ([email protected]) and asked them for a software update. The Road Top Support team was very responsive and provided me with the instruction. The software update fixed the issue and the carPlay unit has been working great so far. ... show more
