I ordered this for my '22 Supra, since the system feature an iDrive6 unit, was able to get it hooked up and working in about 4 hours. Definitely a good option for those who don't want to spend the extra couple hundred dollars on Bimmertechs unit. Couple of notes for everyone: - The system can be a bit slow to start up and there might be the occasional lag or drop in frames, but it's 100% better than nothing. - Make sure you get the dip switches set, disconnect the battery, and reconnect it. After getting it set in place and the head unit reinstalled, disconnect the battery and test again just to make sure no switches accidentally got flipped during the install. This happened to be and I had to tear apart the whole dash again. Not fun by any means, but not really the fault of the product. Recommendations for RoadTop: The product could be a bit better in the sense that it could be software driven (ex. Initial setup renders at low res 360p, then takes you through a quick setup to get the resolution set correctly. If set too high, maybe hold the Options button for 30-60 seconds to factory reset the unit & begin the setup. I don't know, but I'd definitely try to get arid of the dipswitches. The pricing is great, though id definitely pay for a unit with a bit more processing power to make sure the unit doesn't lag. Overall, great product. Would definitely buy it if CarPlay/AndroidAuto isn't available for your iDrive unit! ... show more

    • 2019 Mini Clubman Now Has Carplay
Purchased a 2019 Mini Clubman F54 with EVO radio and no navigation. Was disappointed to learn it did not have Carplay included. Did some research and found this product which is a cheaper yet duplicate product to a few others on the market (about half the cost). Though I was still confused about the names of the radios (CIC, NBT, or NBT EVO) and what product I needed exactly I submitted pics of my radio screen, year of car and any other details I could think of and they said this is the model for my car. With the new box in hand I began installing. There are some popular install videos on youtube but those were not the same model of trim kit on my car. Eventually found a video and all I had to do was twist the outer decorative chrome trim piece counter clockwise and it popped right off. From there the same general instructions applied in accessing the needed wires on the OME head unit and connecting in the new box. I must tell you I was worried about all the wires and connections, but it turns out I didn't need half of them and as long as I followed the enclosed instructions which came with the box, all went very smoothly. A couple points about installing. First, the toggle switch/pin combo which worked for me was "1,2 ON, and the rest OFF". I found this combo doing my own troubleshooting, and was thankful when I did. Second, they say to install the box behind or inside the glovebox or some other location, but there was enough space between the OME head unit and the radio face to fit the box. I did slide the wifi antenna into a little gap up near the top of the dashboard on the inside and above the glove compartment. Third, I did not realize it initially, and it may not reflect it in any of the details of the product above (though their customer service did say this was required in their response instructions to me) that while wireless Carplay does work, I needed to sacrifice my front USB/AUX in front of gear shift to plug in a little included bluetooth device which is then ran to one of the wires of the new box harnessing. This little wire and the USB/AUX blutooth thingy are discreet enough and I was able to tuck away the wire mostly so you don't see it, but I wish I did not have to sacrifice my front USB where we typically would plug in the phone for charge. Not a big deal though, we just have a USB (type C) plugged into one of the two USB plugs in the back seat and ran the cord up front between the seats. All in all, was relatively simple to install and a great price considering. Customer service was great (though they are in Asia, so takes at least a day for response).     • Works, lots of issues.
The product worked with lots of flaws, especially the audio throught the unit lowered quality very noticeably. Sometimes it only sounded through half the stereo. After talking with their customer service (they answered, every other day) I got an update for the unit, sound now works as OEM but I can't receive phone calls. I'd rather have the android auto than phone calls, but it's still an issue that you have to give up such a basic function for it to work. Works just as advertised and even sound better than my stock player. The stock UI is very basic compared to the other brand that is 2x the price but it's a one button press and you never see it again. Wireless android auto is horrible but this is on Google and not the manufacturer. When it did work it was awesome. Running on cable is flawless. No lag or hiccups. Be sure to slowly switch back and forth from the Android Auto to the UI screen (not the stock UI). I had an instance where the screen was just black and did not respond to anything. A quick power off of the car and on again cleared the problem. I have not been able to reproduce it since. I wish it was USB-C instead of USB-A but I plugged in a 6in USB-A (male) to USB-C (female) and tucked the original back in the dash. I also with there was a way to tap into the stock USB and be rid of the dongle. ****Update: after Android Auto's recent update, my unit now hangs/crashes if I have the map open on the main portion. If it's on the side it's ok. Not sure if this is a compatibly issue or is the unit is kaput**** ... show more

    • Wrong Head Unit
Bought this last fall and waited until this week to install. My mistake; It didn't work right and I can no longer return it. The wired android auto worked but it stopped several of my BMW iDrive functions from working and I now have a $300 piece of electronic junk to recycle. My iDrive would no longer provide driving info i.e. trip computer. The fuel finder built into my nav system would no longer work. The chime alarm that indicates my convertible top movement was completed quit sounding off. The speed alarm could no longer be set or used. All of these iDrive feature returned to normal after I removed the Road Top parts. I should have guessed that they had sent the wrong head unit as it was not identical to the pictures on their (Road Top) web site. Too bad I didn't see their web site before I bought it. ... show more
