Safety rail arrived prompty, totally assembled! I did adjust the height of the armrests for our toilet, but that's very easy using the push buttons -- even with my arthritic hands. I very much like the stability of the armrests because of the way the footrest holds them together. I did spray adhesive to the bottom of the foot rest and attach anti-slip rubber mat because it moved just enough to make hubby feel he might slip. That totally fixed the problem. I highly recommend this item because it can be folded for travel! Here are the directions the seller sent at my request: Just above the button with the open groove, you'll find 2 more buttons. Press both at the same time and the arm will fold toward the center. Make sure the buttons are fully depressed or you'll have a hard time getting the arms to fold. Also, make sure to do one side at a time. Do not depress the button in the groove, that button is there to make sure the arm is folded the right way. ... show more

Couldn’t get up! Thought we were going to hav to call the fire department for help. Time to see what was available and ordered this one. Got it...put it together (easy) and put it in place...perfectly provided the leverage to assist in getting up. I really like that it is easily folded and easily moved. Grips are comfortable to hold onto. Two things are a bit bothersome...the first is the toilet lid won’t stay open if you have a padded toilet seat. As the padded seat is a must, I first solved the problem using my alway on hand duct tape!! Because duct tape doesn’t add to the decor, I’m going to try some industrial strength Velcro strips! Secondly, at the base oh the unit where the plastic platform joins the two legs, there is a hard plastic with a squared off corner. Painful if your bare foot connects with it. I’m going to wrap it in something to minimize the squared off corner. I wish the designer would change this. It is an issue as you are getting up and shifting to transfer to the walker. The plastic foot piece is for stability, but when attached both front legs, the opening then is narrowed and restrictive. I found in our bathroom set up, the extra stability was not “needed, so I unattached it at one leg. Easy to reattach if needed! Still this rates a 5 star because it gave the user back his independence/dignity and was so easy to install and use. ... show more

    • Toilet Safety Bars for An Adult With Parkinsons
Due to my husbands Parkinsons Disease, he has frequent falls. I needed to find something to give him more stability when using the toilet. So I ordered this particular RMS Toilet Safety Frame. Overall, it was easy to assemble and has been a big help to him. It easily fits behind the toilet seat so that no significant changes need to be done to the toilet itself. Although we have not done any traveling yet, we will be leaving on a trip shortly and this will be perfect to take along, due to how easily it folds up. The biggest drawback with this railing is the foot rest it has, which does not stay in place and is rather cumbersome. I'm actually thinking of removing it.     • Very helpful and easy to use
I have injured my knees to the extent that sitting and rising has become extremely painful. My bathroom is too wide for grab bars to be an effective aid, so I needed a free-standing frame to use my arms to raise myself while my knees are healing. It works great. It is a little narrower than I would like, so I haven’t connected the foot piece to the other side. It is still very sturdy and stable as long as I use equal pressure with both hands. This has been very helpful to me, and since it is freestanding, when my knees are better, it will be simple to remove without leaving any damage to my house. Some have had difficulty seeing how to fold it up since instructions for that are not included. Unhooking the footrest is simple, and then the little buttons that popped through the holes when it was unfolded must be pushed back in when trying to fold it back up. Those with limited dexterity may have to ask for assistance doing that. ... show more

    • Perfect for Mom - even with one good arm!
After a fall, my 93 year old Golden Girl found she didn't bounce as well as she thought she would. She sprained her neck and hip and broke her clavicle. The shoulder was put in a sling and was a bit sore but what really hurt were the back spasms due to the lack of 'bounce' that occurred. We plugged in a 4" seat and this handy set of arms for the toilet and it worked like a charm. It was so easy to place and I like the foot pad as it does not tend to shift when she pushed with her good arm. Nice and sturdy for her and is strong metal tubing and secure fittings. It can be adjusted on the height also but since she is 5' 2", the shorter it was the better, and it fit her. My sister has dibs on it when she has hip surgery! ... show more

This is an excellent product. It’s lightweight yet sturdy. It’s assembled so all you have to do is put in where you want it, secure the footrest and your done unless you want to adjust the height of course. It looks modern and nice. I love that you can fold it up and put it away when not needed. I definitely recommend this over other products that have the bar that goes behind the toilet! ... show more

    • Not great for people using walkers
My husband is paralyzed on his right side and uses a walker. I bought this device so he could have more independence as he is able to sit on his own as long as he can hold on to something. This device works when he has to sit on it; the arms are adjustable and the whole thing is steady. However, when he just needs to walk up to it to pee, the foot pad and front legs don’t allow his walker to get close enough to the toilet. I ended up having to fold it up between uses. Defeated the purpose of buying it so he had more independence. Will try the kind that screws onto the toilet seat anchors. ... show more
