This product is a handsome addition to my vehicle as well as extremely sturdy and remarkably lightweight. I "tested" the sturdiness part by ripping it off my SUV on the way into my garage 3 days after purchase. The fly rod case was unblemished as was my precious fly rod. The brackets that attach to the cross bars were, unfortunately, broken beyond repair. The garage incident occurred just a day and a half before I was headed out for a multi -day fishing adventure. I ordered the replacement bracket kits from the manufacturer, Riversmith, but their best shipping option was 2 day which I knew would be too late. I called Riversmith, at o' dark thirty Boulder time, left a voice mail and a nice gentleman called me back. He was quite empathetic and told me that he would see what they could do to get the parts to me in time for my trip. They sent an email once the package shipped indicating that they arranged for Fedex overnight. The parts arrived at 2PM the next day, wow!! Plus they included a sweet Riversmith hat, which I love.     • One option could make this even better
Style: 4-banger Black (10'4)
I really like this. It makes the rods easily accessible and, in general, it's easy to attach. I used it for the first time and was able to transport my 3wt 9' dry rod, my 3wt 10' nymphing rod, and my 5wt 9' general purpose rod with no problem. I loved being able to pull the rods out and be ready to hit the water. I ended up getting the styrofoam rod caddies, which worked great, but given the price of this rod rack, those should have come with it. The other thing I would have liked to see is a quick release package option. I ended up buying the quick releases so that I can easily remove the rack from my car when I want to do a wash or whatever. These weren't cheap. It would be nice if they had them as an option for mounting as a package with this rather than the standard mount. Other than those two critiques, I really like this and I look forward to taking this out on more excursions. ... show more

Bought this for my husband for Christmas and he absolutely loves it! Great on price compared to the rest. A small piece was broken in shipping and they replaced no cost, no problem! Very easy to work with as well. Easy to clean and install and use! Would definitely recommend!

    • It takes big fly rods for saltwater fly fishing!

Unlike its competition, the River Quiver "2-banger" uses 2" tubes and a reel box big enough for my 12 wt. surf rods with large diameter reels and big stripping guides. It also has a plastic liner in each tube for the protection of the guides and rod sections. The single post mounting system is very sturdy. Tightening the mounting bolts with a 4mm allen wrench is tedious, but that very difficulty will make it very very difficult for anyone to steal it! I have made a special tool out of a miniature ratchet drive set and removal is much much faster. I love this thing and plan to buy another "4-banger." ... show more

    • Garbage hardware
Style: 4-banger Deyoung (10'4)
Included hardware is garbage. This would normally be an easy work around as one could substitute hardware that is functional. The coupler (which attaches both sections of the river quiver together) has integrated hardware, which is cheap and defective. During initial assembly, one of the included bolts cross-threaded. All the assembly was done by hand, with no power tools. I’m capable of installing bolts without issue. After assembly, it became apparent that the diameter of the rack crossbars were too wide. I needed longer bolts. I opted for the low profile mount, which of course was an added expense. No problem, have it overnighted. Begin disassembling the river quiver to place the new mounts. It is at this point that 2 more bolts became cross threaded while backing them out. I called customer service, explained the situation and also told them I’d have to drill out the coupler. The response was “yep, that’s what you will have to do.” They also offered to send new hardware (more garbage), and another coupler. Which again, is useless because the original coupler is now stuck to the rod carrier. Long story short, don’t waste your money. If you do need customer assistance, their hours are 2-4:30 pm, also not very helpful. ... show more
