I have used this product for 2 years now to clean the resin in the water softener. When we purchased the water softener, we were sold a powder resin cleaner from the same company only much more expensive. This version is less expensive and just as effective.

I was experiencing persistent drops of water pressure in my home to the point where it was literally just drips of water coming out of my faucet. I used Res Care and poured a cup (instructions say 1/2 cup but my situation was bad) into my water softener's brine and manually regenerated my water softener. I did this twice in a row and have not experienced any drop in water pressure since. My water also feels softer and I could feel the difference when taking a shower. Overall, I am more than satisfied with this Res Care Liquid Water Softener Cleaner. I will use 1/2 cup for maintenance moving forward. I've used other water softener brands where you still have to mix its powder form with water to form a solution. The Res Care is much more convenient because all you need is a measuring cup and pour it directly into your water softener's brine. You may need to do more than one manual regeneration with Res Care depending on your water softener's efficiency situation. Have not had any issues with water softener so I assume it is doing it job. Just measure it out and dump it on the brine well every 3 months.

Plus, no need for softener for the laundry. It's very soft strait out of the dryer. May use softener in winter to reduce static electricity. I was considering replacing my softener/media as it was no longer very effective. When unit was new, I was getting about 1750 gals of soft water per regeneration. After only a few years it began to need regeneration more frequently, like 800-900 gallons, and it still wasn't real soft. I assumed the media was done. I saw this on Amazon, and the reviews said it rejuvenated the fouled media and made it operate as new. So I gave it a try. The first regeneration was a mild improvement I thought hmm oh well, to good to be true. But since I have this huge bottle I might as well use it. We'll After 4 or five regeneration cycles was much improved. And continued to improve. I'm on my third bottle and the softener is as effective as it was new. Before you buy a new unit or replace media, I would give this stuff a try. Truly satisfied and use just a little every regeneration now for maintenance. Unit is five years old and works as new.
