We needed a coop we could keep indoors until the chicks get their full feathers. With the unpredictable temperatures at night, even with a heater we couldn't keep the outdoor coop warm enough, and we previously lost 4 of our babies. We're not taking any chances, so we are keeping them in the house for a little while longer. There's no heater included, and the lights don't really warm it, so we put a flat panel heater in it. The coop has pretty big slotted openings on the top and sides so because we have them in an air conditioned house, I had to put a fitted sheet around the coop in order to keep the heat in. As we are able to lower the temperature each week, then we will be able to keep them in there with no heat and most likely they will be ready to move to the outdoor coop. Assembly was easy, and it is easy to clean, but the door latch is a pain to close. After we are finished using it, it should be easy to break down and we're going to store it back in the box it came in. I hope this helps!

Absolutely love it! I bought the big one for my chicks that come out of the incubator and it’s working out perfectly. Just wish there were more stickers to decorate it? Easy Peasy to assemble, love the LED light that changes color and the sliding doors. Will definitely buy one again.

Easy to set up! Comes with stickers, and hatching liners to get you started! Way bigger than expected, chicks definitely have plenty of room! Seems very durable however the Velcro for the top to latch is a little iffy.

Perfect for “teenage” chicks, after they outgrow the standard brooder but aren’t ready to go outside yet. We have 4 and it is the perfect size. Was easy to put together and will be easy to disassemble and store for next year. My only complaint is that they destroyed the mat in half a day, but I don’t know of a material that would stand up to their scratching. Love the window!

We really love this brooder! It’s sturdy and big and it’s cute! We LOVE that it has a viewing window (which slides open). It comes with a Jute pad to put down for bedding … we tried that but then the birds spilled their water (no idea how) and it soaked the pad and had to pitch it within 24hrs. Also the birds pecked and pulled and ripped parts of it to shreds! There weren’t any directions or information that came with that so I am clueless if it was okay, but better safe than sorry I suppose. Next, because they did spill their water, the Jute pad didn’t soak ALL of it, and water did flow out of two corners, which was fine, but surprising. The viewing window is awesome but our birds love to peck at the shiny parts from the inside - not sure if it was them pecking or the dogs nose on the window, but the latch came up pretty quick after I made sure it was secure, so be cautious about the latch and maybe consider reinforcement by tying the handles together — i can see these meddling hens possibly maneuvering this thing open! Plus our dogs and child just love to sit and watch them …. So do I. I’ll be kind of sad when they smell too bad to keep in the living room soon! The top is slotted for ventilation and velcros down on 3 sides and raises up which is super convenient. There’s plenty of ventilation in the sides, too, which also means they tend to kick bedding out a bit at times. There’s handles on the side making for easy moving when needed but with two people because it’s so long. We are excited to start our chicken-ing journey with the Big Red Barn, and it’ll be a great thing to have on hand as a chicken hospital or for quarantine when not being used as a brooder. It folds back up to easily store back in the box which is super convenient, too! I’d say it was worth the $119, considering a metal brooder from the Farm Store was $145.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Big Red Barn. The space is ample for 15 baby chicks from day 1 til about 4 weeks. After that, they need to go outside in a bigger area for day time for sure. But put them back in at night time for sleeping. I used the brooder heater for warmth for them. The barn has adequate ventilation and absolutely love the light at the top. And able to see the babies through the plastic doors makes life fun for all! It's very easy to clean and wipe down. And if you use a wet/dry vac to vacuum all hemp Out at cleaning, it's that much easier. I did use XL dog pee pads on bottom of tray before putting hemp in. So much easier. Take about 10 minutes to clean TOPS! So easy! The water system is awesome and hanging it outside leaves the inside with more room For the babies to run around in. Wasn't real thrilled with the feeder system. The one port that they actually eat from was not at all adequate or chick friendly for them to even find. So use the old fashion way for feeding. But highly recommend if you raise baby chicks and have been using the old tote way to do it. BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE BIG RED BARN!! ❤️ Edited to add a comment or 2! I think it needs something attached to prop up the lid while cleaning it. And another cut out in the back for an electrical cord to go through. That would make this all great!!

I’m sure it’s not a huge surprise to many, but I was SHOCKED that it is a coated cardboard! Mind was blown. Works great but it can never be outside or even in coop! At this price I definitely assumed it would at least be PLASTIC! Nope. So buyer beware! It is a type of cardboard. Other than that, zero complaints. Well, I take that back. I think it’s kind of janky That the light in coop gets double-sided taped to top… also would expect a better option for price. It has fallen plenty of times. I ended up using a Velcro to actually hold. Wouldn’t complain but at this price, come onnnnnnn 🤷🏻♀️

This chick brooder exceeded my expectations. It is well designed, easy to clean, and made raising young chicks much simpler and less stressful. The enclosed design helped keep bedding contained, reduced mess, and provided a safe, comfortable space for my chicks as they grew. I especially appreciated the thoughtful features and easy access for feeding, watering, and daily care. The setup was straightforward, and the overall construction felt sturdy and well made. It quickly became one of my favorite purchases for my flock. While the initial cost is higher than some basic brooders, the convenience, durability, and functionality make it well worth the investment. I only wish I had purchased it sooner
