  • Works perfectly in attached garage
We use our attached garage as a gym but the uninsulated but gorgeous old growth redwood ceiling retained so much heat during the afternoon. We looked into drywall but decided to try a solar fan first. This one was perfect. We had our roofer install it and it took them 25 minutes and said it was really well made as far as being able to seal it easily. It only runs when it is quite warm and sucks out the air from this 600 square foot space easily. It doesn't seem to allow cold air in when the temperature has dipped to 50. It is very quiet. ... show more

  • Solar is free power, why not?
Size: 30 Watt Color: Black
Fan worked right out of the box. Installation was actually pretty easy. When the sun went behind clouds, and the fan didn't have direct sunlight, it was still working. At sunset, with very low light, it was still working. I cant really give a review on temperature improvements because its really not that hot here yet. I done hours of research of solar fans, and Remington Solar stood out, for me, from the rest. Its a solid design. I am very pleased with the purchase of their product. I highly recommend this product if you're searching for an attic exhaust fan, that won't add to your already ridiculous power bill. ... show more

  • Okay
If any piece of the panel has shade hitting it the fan stops running. It's doesn't hold a charge from 7 hours of sun hitting it. As soon as any shade or shadow hits the panel it shuts off. Figure out if any trees or other vent pipes will become shadow over it before buying. It works okay. Don't feel a huge difference of temperature inside the house. ... show more

  • Cooling your attic like magic
Size: 30 Watt Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. I have a ranch. the attic above the garage is not insulated. In summer, it is so hot that it feels like sauna room. I install this attic fan. It keeps my garage temperature to the same as outside and doesn't cost me a penny. How could this happen. It has air flow rate of more than 1000 CFM. It will refresh my entire attic air in 10 minutes. That could be the magic. Following the YouTube examples, replacing my old, dead attic fan is just five minutes. I added some Teflon tape at the edge of the fan such that when the fan runs, the tapes will fly, telling me the fan is running. See the video. Even in a cloudy day like this, the fan is still running decently. If yours is not cool enough, your roof's eaves may not be properly vented. ... show more

  • Excellent customer service, great solar attic fan
The quality is great for this solar attic fan. What I like the best is the customer service provided by Jocelyn at Remington Solar support department. I would highly recommend the small investment in this fan. The 30 watt is perfect for my house and there is very good air flow and very quiet unit. Mine was installed while the roof was replaced, but it seems like any roofer can install this unit on an old roof. I only installed the solar option, without the AC adapter. Hopefully, it will last. ... show more

  • Works great
Size: 30 Watt Color: Black
My husband installed this for our attic, to help the air flow and cool it down for our 2nd floor. Our master bedroom has always been 8-10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house with the attic above our room. After he installed it, it has cooled our room down, to now it’s only 2 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. He said when he was installing it, he heard the fan working instantly. We love this. And would recommend this to everyone! ... show more

  • Very impressed
Size: 30 Watt Color: Black
First checked to make sure it was working out of the box, I sat it in sunlight and it immediately kicked on. Even standing next to it the noise level was hardly noticeable. Install was very easy even though messing with shingles and the roofs water tight seal is intimidating. Just be sure to use a lot of roof rated sealant. It even was running on a very cloudy day. We noticed a near immediate difference in the amount of time our AC unit was running. On a typical day it would kick on around 2pm and run constantly until at least 9. The day of instillation the AC only ran for an hour straight with temps in the low 100s. On the hottest day since install the AC hasn’t struggled with keeping the house 5 degrees cooler than the lowest it could get running 7 hours a day. I absolutely recommend this product to anyone with an attic having problems keeping their house cool. ... show more

  • Truly does need direct sunlight
Size: 30 Watt Color: Black
My 50's house in Dallas, TX has a shallow attic with only gable vents for attic ventilation. There was a passive attic vent on the roof when we moved in but when I noticed a temperature reading in early summer of 167 degrees on my wireless attic thermometer, I knew I needed to try something else. As a home inspector I know the best attic ventilation system is a combination of soffit vents and ridge vents, but the expense (and expertise) of installing those is beyond me, and I knew replacing the old passive vent with this fanned vent was in my wheelhouse and price range. I highly recommend watching the installation video Remington made. I had to widen the existing hole in my roof a bit, but installation was pretty easy overall. Loosening older shingles far enough out on every side of the opening was harder than anything. I have to agree that the biggest flaw is that the solar panel has to be fully lit by direct sunlight. Not knowing much about solar panels, I can't say if this is a flaw specific to Remington or all solar panel products, but even a portion of my hand covering a corner of the panel is enough to make the fan fully stop. Passing clouds definitely make it turn off. The roof I installed it on faces South which gets direct sunlight from about 10A-5P. As far as how well it's mitigating the heat in the attic, I haven't seen a reading on my thermometer higher than 140 (which is still too hot for an attic) so I am pleased to drop 25+ degrees. I'm going to try to increase the intake ventilation areas for the attic and see if more air will move because the fan is oversized for my square footage. Also REALLY considering the AC adapter since temps have still been over 110 at sunset... Today is the hottest day of the year so far so the real test is just beginning! ... show more
