Works good on my 2018 a4 to get tie rod end off. Knuckle is made of aluminum and hitting didn't really help. This made it easy.

Just the other days I’d replaced my cv axles on my GS-R , using this tool made the job a breeze which separating the ball joint is usually the hardest part of the job. Not with this tool wont be anymore, very very helpful.

If you are working on Honda ball joints, this is what you need. I bought a smaller one for the tie rod ends on my Honda Pilot, but it was no match for the ball joint; the ball joint is so much wider than the tie rod. This provided the right clearance and power to remove the ball joint without damage. It is durable and has a strong plating on it. The one thing that is missing, that would make this a 5 star product, is a way to keep the tool from flying off when the joint separates. The OEM Honda one has that. It doesn’t impact the tool during use, but would be a good safety add on.

Ideal for the tolerances of a Honda ball joint if you don't have the money to pay a greedy eBay seller $300 to $700 for a vintage OEM-commissioned MAC Tools separator. I have a '95 Civic. People are complaining about this tool breaking. Use good sense. I'm familiar with this process, and my ball joints get very firmly seated, with incredible potential energy. I cranked this to an uncomfortable point of tension after which I knew it would likely become another casualty like those read about in these reviews. With all of that force on the separator you need to take a small sledge and give the control arm end -- on a '95 Civic, anyway -- a sharp but not punishing swat and the ball joint will release with an unnerving snap. Use the tool smartly, don't abuse it, and this will be a great purchase that you won't regret.

I tried two ball joint separators on my 2017 Audi Q7, and both were unable to separate the ball joint from the spindle. Before giving up and taking my car to a shop I decided to buy this tool, and this tool made quick work of the ball joint separation. I wish I had bought this sooner. I will continue to buy my tools from Amazon and not the tool trucks.
