I needed something fast for drying vanilla beans. After some research, this seems to have been a decent buy. I scanned through the book. It is recommended to move the trays around during dehydration since the bottom tray gets the most heat. PROS Five Trays Small Decent pricing Quiet Timer Temperature set CONS Does not have a fruit leather tray You have to find a sweet spot with the temperature setting The Base (Silver part) gets hot! I am using it right now on top of my stove. I was going to put it in my garage if the sound was loud, but it wasn't. Put it in a place where you won't have to move it once it starts, or use some heavy-duty gloves to move it. This was a good buy for me because I don't dehydrate food. I had a Nostalgia Organic Fruit Snacks dehydrator I purchased used for really cheap, but I had it sitting for years after using it only once. I honestly don't remember what I used it for, but it conked out yesterday. This seems to be a nice replacement. Though the Nostalgia had fruit leather trays, there was no timer or temperature setting, so this one is better. I hope it works well since I will be using it for dehydrating spent, alcohol infused vanilla beans, to make sugar and powder.

Does not dehydrate. Tried to do tomatoes and it has taken well over 24 hours (even with higher temp than the book says) to even come close to dehydrate cherry tomatoes. Should not even come close to taking this long.

Its okay, I would spend a few extra dollars and get somthing else. The buttons don't work very well and you have to rotate the trays in order to for it too work well. But it does work so if you want some cheap and don't dehydrator a lot of things its probably fine.

This product is good for little things. That being said such as fruits, vegetables, even sugar cookies. It is not very loud, it is a cute looking product I left on my counter. You get what you pay for as this is not too expensive. The racks are a plastic, kind of cheap. Some how I cracked a tray in the sink. On the other hand I wanted to do beef jerky, Teriyaki to be paricular... The issue I ran into is the juices would flow down onto the bottom which would stain at the bottom. ( The bottom piece is white.) I want to clean everything and that is how this product came to its demise. I did not like the staining and attempted to clean as much as I could. Next time I plugged it in, it started smoking. I threw it away. I got my uses out of it until I tried to really clean it. So, if your going to do Dried Fruit and Vegetables this is good for you....
