Solid product for very little money.

Let’s start with the obvious, this unit is cheap. Relatively speaking a round of most rifle ammo can be close to a dollar, and even pistol rounds are fifty cents plus for match grade. If you can eliminate 5-6 shots from your usual zero SOP you just saved some dough ray me. I haven’t had a true opportunity to take this to a range, but have three new pieces and one is missing a front sight (ordered) I want to make sure they are all up to our standard and zeroed and ready to go. The way I tested this was I have 3 known zero weapons, hand gun, bolt action Rifle and AR platform. I installed the bore laser in each of them and they were all within 1-2” at 30yds and the bolt action was dead on although the laser is pretty large diameter at 30-50 yds so getting absolute zero will take additional effort beyond the bore tool. With the AR platform the muzzle device seemed to add variations as I turned the laser in the bore, for truer initial set up I would recommend removing the muzzle device. And if you have a can on this likely will only help with left to right variance and not drop. Bottom line this was very inexpensive compared to most high end models, the bore plugs are not well marked and are small plastic pieces. Likely you will only use this for initial setup of new optics or after a swap, possibly to align handgun sites after changing etc. This unit came with 2 batteries meaning it shipped with a spare that was nice, the bore plugs are numbered but the numbers are 1-2mm in size on molded plastic (barely visible) plugs are colored so maybe long term it becomes more intuitive. Green laser is extremely bright at 10-15 yards it is great, out past 30-50 and the laser beam seemed pretty large it dwarfed my bolt action steel open sight post, and on an AR 3x optic with 4 MOA center dot it was larger than the dot so absolute zero would be impossible but it would likely get you to within 3-4” groups before you needed to start sending rounds down range. ... show more

Good Product/ Excellent Customer Service

I recently acquired a new Colt platform and multiple sighting optics. I purchased the Red Boresighter. It is nicely packaged, and easy to use. I was disappointed that the red laser was not very powerful. The bigger problem was that the axis of the laser was not matched with the axis of the stem of the Boresighter. In other words, I would insert the Boresighter in the barrel and set-up my optics. If I removed the product and then reinserted it in the barrel, the laser's point of aim would shift to a different spot on the target. Repeat the above steps, and the point of aim would once again shift to a different spot on the target. I contacted Strong Tools Customer Service with my problems. Their representative, Allen, promptly replied. We went back and forth with him asking questions and my responding. He made the determination to send me a new Boresighter. He agreed that the Green LED Laser would be sent. Within a week, the new product made it to my door from halfway across the world .... no charge to me! The Green LED is easier to see, and the replacement seems to be more accurate. I really have to commend Allen for helping me out, and taking a sincere interest in resolving the issues. Works very well.

This bore sighter has helped me sight in all of my growing collection of firearms. It's probably the single best investment I've made in the hobby, as well as one of the cheapest. It's allowed me to sight in everything inside my house, at least to 10yds. If you need to go further than that, I recommend getting some reflective safety tape and affixing that to your intended zero distance. This works pretty well, regardless of the time of day you are doing your zero. ... show more

Not bad

I’ve been trying various systems to bore-sight rifles. I tried this one out as it looked and sounded really good, and read the reviews. So I tried it on a rifle I had that the scope was a little bit off at 100 yards I had discovered. After using this bore sighter to field test it and at 20 yards, after making my adjustments to windage only on my scope, it wasn’t even on paper at 50 yards. So something doesn’t quite line up right when using the caliber adapters. And if you have a standard GI version of an M1A, forget about it. The stem isn’t long enough to clear the flash hider on the standard M1A. Three stars, because this has to be the brightest green dot laser I have ever seen commercially. And it comes with a spare battery, nice touch. UPDATE - The seller has reached out to me several times, and following their instructions it does work better than my initial attempt at bore siting. I do have to add, I tried it on a pistol (4.5” barrel) and it worked perfectly. Great for setting up an electronic optic on handguns (Airsoft, in minecraft, of course). ... show more
