Our dog recently had to have his spleen removed due to a massive tumor, and the resulting surgical scar is quite long. Thanks to his allergies, he also developed a bad case of pyoderma all over his poor tummy. To protect both while healing, this little onesie-type suit helps protect his entire underside. The recovery suit is meant for female dogs but as long as you undo the velcro holding the bottom piece up, it works just fine for male dogs as well. This suit helps keep the ointments to treat his pyoderma and surgery scar from rubbing off on bedding. Ointment still comes off on the suit fabric, but since the suit fits pretty snugly to his body the ointment covered fabric still rests against the spots it needs to. The suit also helps keep outside dirt away from his tender tummy while it heals. I was worried the various ointments would stain the material of the suit, but thankfully the suit is 100% poly and launders really well. Even the sulfur-based ointment didn't leave behind any discoloration on the white fabric after being treated with stain remover. Some hair does stay behind in the material, but that's probably because his hair is the super short little 'eyelash' kind that works its way into everything. As for fit, be sure to order. up if your dog's chest is right at the edge of the one size. The fit is snug like it is supposed to be. There's some stretch to it, but not much. Seams aren't placed in areas where they would rub your dog's skin raw, and the leg openings are well sized to allow for freedom of movement. If your dog has a thick, bushy tail it might be a tight squeeze to fit it through the hole for the tail opening. Speaking of the tail opening, it's NOT big enough to allow your female dog to go potty through. Like I mentioned above about having to undo the bottom flap and move it out of the way so our male dog can potty, you will have to do the same with female dogs. The poly fabric of this suit is also thick which could cause your pup to overheat, especially if they have thick long fur. Our boy has a thin coat and didn't seem to be overly bothered, but when we took off the suit it was obvious by how warm his body was underneath that the suit holds in heat. The thicker protection for the underside and belly is great, but if the rest of the material of the suit were thinner and breathable it would be perfect. A lot of pet recovery suits are made of thinner cotton/poly/rayon combos where the fabric on the underside is woefully thin and provides no more protection than wrapping your dog in a long stretch of paper towels. We've had these suits tear in this area when dog nails go at it trying to reach an itch on their tummy. If we could find a suit that combines the two - thin body with thicker, lightly padded underside - in this same design and style, it would be perfect. Right now, this suit is more suited to thin coated dogs and dogs not prone to overheating.

Super cute post-surgery pj's for my pup. I really like the design and the material, but the measurements were a bit off. I'm surprised the neck wouldn't have a little more stretch to it since this was a large. The neck was too tight in my opinion and didn't match the body measurements. If you've got a thick necked dog like I do, I would try something else.

Not made for my dog who is docked and has no tail. The suit fit nicely around the puppy who just had surgery. It was easy to attach to the dog and was a really good fit. Dog looked good in it but the functionality of the suit did not work. My puppy had a bowel movement in the suit and it was rather messy. Not sure if I did everything right as there are no instructions but a picture on how it fits on the dog. With the mess that was created, I had to clean the dog, and I took off the suit and went back to the cone. My dog struggles with the cone and I was hoping the suit was comfortable for the pet but I gathered it was not. Another of my epic failures.

I bought 2 different suits at the same time and prefer this Wszyilla. Like another reviewer, I found the tail hole to be a little snug but atributed that to probably getting too small a size. I chose small because of the chest dimension printed on the product description, but should have used the back length as the more important dimension. It was hard to imagine that my little 15 pound Maltipoo would be considered "medium". But that's okay, because as can be seen in the photo, I cut the tail hole a little bigger (the seam went straight across before the modification) and then made a hem with fabric glue. Unlike another reviewer, I don't find it a bother to undo the velcro, roll up the underside and fasten (again w/velcro) under the strap on the back to let him out to visit nature. I'm at a loss as to how the suit could be made more accomodating for that purpose. The print is adorable, the fabric has a nice feel to it, it's very well stitched and assembled, the stretchy holes for front legs and neck are not tight yet snug, and it seems like it's going to endure the wash cycle without issues. There is also an additional fabric layer at the groin to catch a few drips of discharge. It's not waterproof there though. The small tail hole is almost worthy of dinging one star from the rating, but stop and consider that the suit is to keep the dog from licking that area after surgery. It makes sense to keep it tight. Besides, at under $20 (8-16-24) I can make the minor adjustment.

This recovery suit has been helpful for my dog after bladder stone surgery. It fits well and keeps her from getting to her stitches. It's a sturdy material (cute too) and she seems fairly comfortable in it. I did take off one star because she was able to wriggle out of it one night, but she's a little Houdini so I'm not too surprised. Overall, we are happy we ordered this.

I'm quite pleased with the design and material. The dog seems comfortable with it too, happily playing, and able to eat and drink without issue. However, I would appreciate more adjustability for the length and the elimination opening. Despite measuring carefully and choosing the recommended size, a smaller size would have been a better fit.

Got this for my dog that did not have surgery but did get her period for the very first time and hates the doggy diapers, so I found this item to put on her in order to prevent her from chewing off the diaper and to keep the diaper in place and it works like a dream. This material is very breathable and soft for her, she can move around easily in this, the way this product is designed makes for an easy process of undoing the back part for quick and effortless trip to the bathroom then I put the product back on her with no issues.
