If you think this looks good in the video, It looks even better in person. This is A+ quality accessory for your truck. Every single part is just well made, heavy duty, and looks great. The benefit is more than just an automated "transformer" effect. Since these supports are able to stow themselves they actually are MUCH lower in the low position that any other alternative. I installed this myself. My quotes were $900.00 and $1,000 for professional install before tax. Install is straight-forward but it takes time. It took me about 4 solid hours. Few lessons learned. (RAM 1500, 2023, Quad cab) 1. Install motors to the bracket in the bracket OPEN position. 2. Install the motor on the driver side AFTER you've installed the hardware to truck and attached power cable to motor. This is because the electrical connector fits precisely and cannot be inserted once the motor is attached to the bracket. 3. Get an actual crimper tool (borrow, buy) to secure electrical connections to the lights. Everything else will mess up the solderless connection. This is not a huge deal, but you will have to find another way to join the cables to the light kit. 4. On this truck there is no need to drill holes on the metal of the footwell of the driver side. But you do poke a hole in the rubber boot to run two thin wires.

GET THESE RUNNING BOARDS!!!! I believe the best thing about these running boards is the American-made quality that you can literally touch with your fingers and weigh with your arms. Every piece is solid and durable, like a tank. I was actually intimidated by having to run the wires from the battery down the tire wells and into the panel below the steering column. The printed instructions are mediocre but there are plenty of YouTube install videos that were instrumental in making this as easy 3-hour install (2-person job). The board is super-wide so you don’t worry about missing it with your feet. For my 2020 Ram 1500, the step comes down to about 5” off the ground when it’s fully extended (which is a little low, IMO). Overall, I’m very happy with AMP Research and actually think I ended up with a better sidestep than the factory version.

Originally I wanted the Ram OEM power running boards but these are about 300 dollars cheaper and they support more weight. I watched a couple of YouTube videos and had all the knowledge needed to get the installation done. Install took me roughly 4 hours from start to finish. It would have took less time with some help. However, you can absolutely do this on your own. The materials that Amp Research uses are top notch and everything was plug and play. They work flawlessly and the LED puddle lights are an added bonus. Tuck away when you don’t need them and drop down when you do. I love them.

I installed this myself. All in, it took about 3 hours. All parts fit perfectly. I would recommend watching a couple of Youtube videos on installation before you start. The instructions are ok, but it really helps to see some of the process before crawling under your truck. No need to lift the truck, you should be able to install this on the ground by just sliding underneath the sides. You'll need a socket and wrench set, wire strippers/crimpers, some electrical tape, extra black tie wraps (to keep your wiring neat) a clean flathead screwdriver or trim tool to get the internal panel off. Also, if you plan to mount the step lights as in the instructions, you'll want some good metal piercing drill bits, 1/8" and 9/32". The pinch panels on your truck might be pretty hard to get through and you'll end up burning some lesser quality bits. Also be sure to get yourself some touch-up paint for the newly-drilled holes. The last thing you want is rust. The motors are smooth and quiet, and the fact that they tie directly into your door contols make them open and close like a factory install. When closed, they tuck away nicely, so you keep that modern truck look instead of the Grandpa's Running Boards profile. Overall, I'm really happy with them!

These are really good steps and the wife is loving them. Sturdy and wide. Install takes a little time, but isn't difficult if you work on your car with any frequency. Drilling the seams for the light wires was a pita. Probably would not drill them again. Didn't use the grommets, painted the holes, and then filled them with clear silicone. I got a OBD port splitter so you there is still an open port. Also, these should come with the override switch. Our 2019 Laramie 4x is not lifted (yet) and these drop really low. Still useful for getting in, but at curb height when down. Going to have to make sure I don't park too close and have them hit the curb when they drop. Look very clean when closed and much classier than fixed running boards. If you are going to seriously off road your truck these will probably get destroyed - best for mall crawlers and the dirt road travels. Reasons for 1 star off - no override switch or OBD splitter, and having to drill the pinch seams.

My family is height challenged and my new RAM 1500 was a little too high for them to get into easily. I did my research and the AMP PowerStep were recommended everywhere and for good reason. They arrived quickly and I installed them in about 3 hours with a little help. The way they work is really great. Simply plugging them in to the already present plug under the dash they lower and raise whenever a door is opened and only on the side of the door that was opened. After shutting the door in about 3 seconds the steps retract. I bought the LED lights as well and they look great. Pros: Easy to install - the mounting was easy. They look great and work well. Cons: Wire management is on you to figure out. They send some zip ties but keeping it neat and safe is really on the installer to complete. I would easily recommend this product (and have a couple times after people have seen them)
