So I had Imou for the longest time and have been paying a monthly fee for practically nothing because it never picked up and advised me of any details when I seriously needed them. I tried a RING camera at some point last year and for one reason or another it just did not work out so I returned it. This time, I decided to try an updated RING camera and THIS is exactly what I hoped for and needed. I absolutely adore the details of what this RING offers. I mean just look at my screenshots! I don't even have to have the motion detection setting on high to get the results I need because it's perfect. When it tells me there's "motion detection" without any details I know that it's because something like a tree branch or bird flying created a shadow or something like that. But when an actual person or vehicle is pulling up into my driveway this unit actually tells me that "there is a white vehicle pulling into your driveway" and "a person is walking up to your door". You can even see in one of my photos that this unit told me that a UPS truck was driving by. And I get these notifications as they're occurring, whereas the competitor would give me a notification AFTER a vehicle has already gone or when someone was already in the house Imou would say there's motion at your front door AFTER the person's already in my home. I could be robbed or murdered before Imou even mentioned somebody was here which is ridiculous. With RING, I'm getting these notifications as it's happening in real time, like it should!! The security of RING is undeniable the best. When someone actually uses the doorbell the communication sound quality is perfection and it's very difficult for me to use the word 'Perfection' on anything so that means a lot. Imou has it to where you have to push a button to speak and then push it again to hear what the other person is saying (SO STUPID) and the sound quality was horrible. But I have the complete opposite effect with this RING. I literally just click 1 single button to talk back and forth like being on a telephone. That brings me to another advantage. I absolutely love when someone actually pushes the button for the doorbell my phone actually rings as if it's a FaceTime phone call and I couldn't be happier to be able to communicate with somebody at my front door from the backyard or even my bedroom with perfect easy and sound. If I'm waiting for a package to be picked up (I ship merchandise out as I have a business out of my home) and somebody is at my front door when I'm in my backyard I can easily tell them from my phone I will be right there instead of trying to rush to the door before they give up and walk away. It was extremely easy to install and it's extremely easy to use. It is awesomely compatible with my Alexa. Alexa tells me that "a package has just been set on your table" or "A person is at your door". That is so helpful it's insane. The first time I heard Alexa say that, I laughed out loud with complete satisfaction. Value for the money?? CHECK!! The cat outside was ringing the doorbell and literally peaking into the actual camera lens, as you can see from my video and pictures. I've tried to get her to come in to get out of the hot Florida sun but she will not. She is perfectly comfortable being in my doorway where there is shade and I always refresh the water out there for the kitties. During the video of her ringing the doorbell she's actually pregnant and I had no idea. When she came back and rang the doorbell again I noticed her belly was way smaller and a little tiny orange baby hiding behind her as if to say "mama or are you sure about this". When I opened the door and gave them their flower dish and fresh water as you can see in my photo everything was blissful and I got to watch both Mommy and one of her babies eat and drink with comfort and then fall back asleep in the shaded doorway. Look at the screenshot with Imou and RING together and see the difference. I still have to figure out a few things, but I know that it won't be difficult for me. So I have already canceled my subscription with Imou and am about to begin my actual subscription with RING because my free trial is up tomorrow. I wanted to wait the entire 13 days of the free trial before doing an actual review so that I can play with it and test it and see what it's capable of and boy am I ready. So yes, now RING will be getting my monthly fee instead of Imou. Would I recommend this particular product to people? Oh absolutely YES!!

So far so good! Working well on the 30 day trial Ring gives for free. Not too hard to install at all and I was able to follow the set up instructions fairly easily. Picture quality is good. Haven’t tried the microphone out yet but seems easy enough on my phone to just hit the speaker button to talk. Feel better being able to see who is on my property without opening my door. The battery took over 9 hours to charge completely. I may end up connecting it to the actual doorbell wiring if it’s too big a pain to recharge. You are going to be without the camera overnight or a large portion of the day since it’s so slow charging. It identified a UPS truck and a mailman plus people walking by. Also gave tornado and flood warnings last night for my neighborhood!! Very happy with my purchase!!!

Huge Image Quality Upgrade! Slimmer Profile & Great Trade-In Value

I upgraded to the Ring Battery Doorbell 2K from my older 2nd Gen model, and the video clarity is night and day—it is so much clearer! Here are a few quick takeaways if you are considering upgrading: Video Quality: The 2K video is exceptionally sharp compared to the older generation. High-definition footage makes spotting details effortless. Sleeker Profile: It has a noticeably slimmer footprint than the 2nd Gen. Because it's narrower, my old mounting holes show slightly on the wall, but I would much rather have a crystal-clear camera than worry about a minor cosmetic mark. Battery Setup: Unlike the previous generation, the battery isn't removable from the bottom—you have to unmount the whole unit to recharge it. I miss having the camera casing remain on the door so it still looks active while charging, but taking the whole unit down is easy enough and not a dealbreaker. Great Value: Taking advantage of Amazon/Ring's trade-in program gave me a nice discount on the new model. Overall, this is a fantastic camera and a substantial upgrade over the older models. Highly recommended!

Great Video Quality, but There Are a Few Things to Know

I’ve been really impressed with the video quality on this Ring doorbell. The 2K resolution makes faces and packages much easier to see, and the wide-angle view gives you a good amount of coverage around the front door. The enhanced zoom is also a nice feature when you need a closer look at something in the video. Two-way talk works great for communicating with someone at the door, and I like having the built-in battery instead of needing to run a wire. Pros: • Very clear 2K video • Wide viewing angle gives good coverage • Enhanced zoom is useful for seeing details • Two-way talk is convenient • Battery-powered installation is much easier • Clean, modern look Cons: • You do have to keep an eye on the battery level and recharge it • Some of the advanced Ring features may require a subscription • The higher video quality can use more storage/data Overall, this is a really solid doorbell camera with excellent video quality and useful features. The biggest thing I’d tell anyone considering it is to look into the subscription options and battery expectations before buying. Hopefully this review helps someone make a more informed decision!

I was skeptical at first with all the comments about how long it takes for the battery to charge but what no one has said was how long this battery last. I am absolutely happy with this ring doorbell camera. I've had it at my front door for a week and a half and the battery is still at 74 percent. At that rate if it takes one night a month to charge this camera I can definitely do that. Still on the trial run for the subscription but will definitely be getting the subscription for it as well because the subscription is extremely cheap for what you get out of it. If your looking for a doorbell camera. Stop looking. This camera is the best hands down.

This camera is great! Install was easy! I have had an older ring camera where you could swap out batteries if not using an old wire setup. I wish that was the case in this. The camera is clear and great quality with notifications telling you what an individual is doing when it detects motion. I like this over my old eufy camera I last used.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY - UPDATE OCT 20260

Oct 2026: Below is my original review, however after endless phone calls with customer service telling me incorrect information, someone from Ring reached out to me via email after my review. I did speak with this person who was extremely helpful. She told me that I was given wrong information by customer service as once you send back a defective device and they receive it they have 30 days to send you a new one. Since mine was well over the 30 day mark, she sent one out and I got it within 3 days. The new device is working well for the last 3 days, I will update if there is anything else I feel people should know before buying. She is also looking into our other device that we bought at the same time and if she can't resolve the issue she will replace that as well. I am satisfied with her customer service but I still shouldn't have had to deal with the endless customer service calls outsourced to another country that just lied to me and were not helpful. I would buy directly from Ring's website even though Amazon was cheaper, it seems much easier dealing directly with them versus Amazon and Ring. Aug 2026: DO NOT BUY - This is the first review I've ever given on Amazon and that is because it is simply the worst purchase and customer service by the manufacturer I have ever received. I bought this camera for our front door and my husband bought a 2nd for our back door. Within 5 days, the front doorbell camera continuously went offline for no reason, it is shaded, the battery is charged (even though it takes 15 hours to fully charge and dies quickly), and he did everything he knows as he works in IT to fix it, everything Google said to do, and then calling Ring - repeating all of those steps - for it to not work. Ring said to send the camera back that it was defective and as soon as they received it they would send another. It has been over 2 weeks since the camera was delivered to Ring and we have not received one. When I call customer service to find out where my replacement is, no one comes on the line. Shockingly enough, our back doorbell camera my husband purchased is now going offline for no reason, same issues. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! I am appalled that this is even for sale, as the lack of customer service, and now money wasted down the drain. I can't even request a refund from Amazon because I no longer have the front camera. I'd give it -1,000,000,000 stars.
