  • OKAY CHAIR . . . PROPORTIONS ARE ALL WRONG
Ordered April 28, expecting 2-day delivery. Just received it today - 13 days later. I've ordered and received myriad large packages over the years (including several office chairs), and shipping and delivery has always been a nonissue. But this time, the shipping saga was one of the most convoluted scenarios I've ever encountered. On the positive side, the chair was well packaged and moderately easy to assemble. I would say it's more of a two-person job, because the arms and back are a bit tedious to attach, but it's doable with one person (just takes longer). It is mostly comfortable, except, as some have pointed out on the Office Depot site, the seat pan is too short. If this chair is supposed to be for big and tall people, what exactly were they thinking, that big and tall people have long legs, tall backs, wide hips, but short butts? Seriously! I'm not sure what is supposed to happen when I adjust the tilt, but NOTHING happens on my chair when I adjust the lever up or down. It doesn't go back or more forward. I just hear a very slight "click" sound coming from (or near?) the lever. But nothing happens to the chair itself. Additionally, there is very little discernible difference when I adjust the tightness of the tilt by turning the knob. The gas lift seems to be working, so the knob definitely works in that portion. There is no visible damage to the chair, so I just don't get it. The sad part is that was the part that was MOST important to me was the executive tilt feature, because I tend to rock a lot while sitting and working. If I can't rock, I'm not happy, and this chair is not budging! Also, one of the arm rest caps was separated before I even removed the bubble wrap, and it won't stay on. I thought I could just pop it back in, but either something (that is not obvious) is broken off of it, or perhaps it was glued or had some sticky substance applied to it originally, and that is no longer holding. So it just keeps falling off, and that is annoying (not to mention an eyesore). And to add insult to injury, I went on the Office Depot site just now and see that the chair is on sale for $100 less than I paid for it on Amazon. The reason I ordered it on Amazon when I did was because the price was slightly cheaper than it was on Office Depot at the time I placed the order. Irony of ironies! I plan to call Office Depot on Monday to see if they can help me figure out what is wrong with the tilting mechanism. Meanwhile, I'm not a happy camper after (1) waiting so long for the chair, (2) finding the one feature I care about the most (rocking/tilt mechanism) does not work, and (3) discovering I could have gotten it for $100 cheaper (not to mention WAY faster) if I'd just ordered from Office Depot. Even if I had paid more initially, since the price went down within 30 days, I'm sure they would have honored the sale. Boohoo. :( ***** UPDATE 5/26/18: I originally gave this chair one star after first purchasing it last year. I eventually sold the chair, because the awkward proportions were so bothersome, but I wanted to update my review to better reflect how things played out while I did have it. First of all, I want to clarify that even though this is being sold on Amazon, it was actually (somehow, some way) shipped from Office Depot, because it's an Office Depot brand chair. That turned out to be a blessing, especially since they are just down the street from me. I was extremely frustrated with the nonfunctioning tilt mechanism, which is the main reason I bought the chair. I also no longer had the box that the chair came in, since it was damaged in shipping, so that made returning it via Amazon channels difficult. So I contacted Office Depot on the off chance that they might accept it in exchange for another chair - either one just like it that actually worked, or another model. I don't drive, so it's not exactly a no-brainer to do that, but I had planned to have my daughter help me with that process. Much to my surprise, the Office Depot manager, without hesitation, said he would PERSONALLY bring me out a replacement chair that very same day, and if I didn't like it, he would take it back in exchange for another chair! He did just that a few hours later. Give that guy a Klondike bar! It turns out that the tilt mechanism on my chair was, indeed, faulty, so things got much better once I got a new chair that functioned properly. The chair is extremely comfortable in SOME respects - in terms of overall seat and back cushioning as well as the cushioned arm rests. But unfortunately, the too-short seat pan and the unadjustable arms turned out to be deal breakers. I LOVE the rainfall style of the seat cushion - very leg-friendly, as it helps to reduce pressure on the legs. I also loved the extra cushioning in the head area, especially when I was tilting and rocking the chair. It felt like being in an easy chair. And I especially loved that I could rock while I type without breaking the chair, which I do out of unconscious habit. But the too-short seat pan meant I was always sliding forward and having to lift my butt and scoot back. This frequent posture adjustment turned out to be very hard on my tailbone and midback area and caused me a lot of pain. Also, the armrest was just a tad bit too high for my 5'6" frame, and after a long day of continued typing (I do transcription at home), my shoulders and forearms would be in excruciating pain from the way my arms were positioned on the armrests. I did like that the armrests could be moved out of the way when not in use, and ultimately, I had to keep them there permanently to avoid the debilitating shoulder and forearm pain. I eventually came to the conclusion that the chair had to go, and it went to a new home, where I hope the chair and its new owner are living in harmony. I was very sad about that because the chair is well made and is probably the most beautiful office chair I've owned. I LOVE the rich taupe color, and the padding in all the right places makes it very comfortable in SOME respects. But unfortunately, those comfort features are overshadowed its design shortcomings, which result in excruciating pain elsewhere. I'm sure it's probably Goldilocks-perfect for the mystery folk with just-right proportions that the chair was designed for - someone very tall, not too heavy, and who also is proportionally shorter from the waist to the back of the knee, so not needing a deep seat pan. My 5'6", 32"-inseam body proportions just do not fit well with this chair. But all in all, I thought it only fair to upgrade the chair from one star to three stars, especially since my main reason for the original one-star review was the nonfunctioning tilt mechanism, which was remedied when the oh-so-nice Office Depot manager delivered the replacement chair. ... show more

  • Spots all over the base, but did clean up with magic eraser and leather cleaner.
Managed to get the spots out with magic eraser, hot water, and leather cleaner. Office Depot did credit back some for the inconvenience. The chair is overall super comfy and great for me specifically. I highly recommend checking it out in store. My only try complaint is it doesn't have a recline function but for the price point I paid it's worth the trade off. ... show more

  • Excellent chair!
Excellent chair! I work from home and spend everyday at my computer. I wanted a high back supportive and sturdy chair. I weigh about 270 so the biggest and tall is better. This is it. Super easy to put together. Only took me 20 minutes. I love that the arms flip up so you can push the chair in all the way when done working. I just wish the arm rests were just a little longer so they rest under your wrists better. But that is a minor complaint. Overall love the chair. Nice taupe color. A little more than I wanted to spend but well worth t. Would buy again. ... show more

  • Do not buy
The chair was not comfortable nor was it ergonomic. This is a young person in her late 20s writing this review. After using this chair for a week I started to experience rest leg because of the horrible make of that chair and how it is like a waterfall spill. Definitely not good for blood flow. On top of that the seller is absolutely horrible to work with. I was well within my return period and when I requested a return they played the game well we need to contact Office Depot and see if they will accept it. When Office Depot accepted they tried to make it seem like they were doing me a favor saying ‘well Office Depot will do this a courtesy’ As I was packaging the return as instructed when I informed them I did not have the original box (they told me to bubble wrap securely) ups did not pick it up. They said it would not be accepted that way. Not to mention they had been scheduled to come twice and never came on the scheduled day. I would never buy from this carrier again. ... show more

  • Great chair
This is my second time buying this same chair. First time was from another store. The cushion provides great support. I'm 5'5 and 160 lbs. The chair is pricey but oh well. If you add a portable massage to the chair then you cannot sit long because it takes up space. I wish the arm support was longer. It's still a good chair to buy though. ... show more
