Very disappointed with the experience. The item arrived missing the metal plate, and instead of simply sending the missing part, I’m being forced to repackage and return the entire product. This is a bulky, heavy item, and it’s completely unreasonable to make customers go through that hassle for a small (but vital) missing piece. It’s a huge waste of time, effort, and resources. I would’ve gladly waited for the metal plate to be shipped separately, but Amazon doesn’t even offer that as an option. Extremely frustrating and unnecessarily complicated.

My 24" mat is very well made and measures exactly as expected. It has robust edging along the edge to prevent fraying. The material is a silicon coated fiberglass but is pretty thin. It is made of material similar to some "fireproof" storage envelopes that I have, only thinner. It seems to block flame and resists heat, but being thin will let some heat travel through. It will definitely help to prevent the deck/flooring from catching on fire, but you might want to have more insulation to keep it from something that is heat sensitive. Still, a great piece of extra protection for under a solo stove.

I'm using this with a little tabletop fire pit that didn't come with its own mat. It seems to be the right size to protect the table from the radiant heat coming off the fire pit, but it won't do much if the fire starts to release a lot of sparks, because it's not very big. Our little fire pit is the smokeless type and it doesn't release many sparks, so this is a perfect accessory for it. It fits inside the fire pit loosely folded. It seems to be well made, so I think it could also be used for other things. It feels like rubber (I believe it's actually silicone) over fiberglass, and it isn't as thin as I expected it to be. The thermal insulation seems good, and the construction seems to be pretty good quality. Out of an abundance of caution, we are using it on a metal tabletop, so unfortunately I can't tell you definitively that it would protect a wood or glass patio table. I think it would be fine, but if your table is wood, I would avoid trying it on windy days, and if it's really cold outside, I wouldn't put it on a glass table just in case.
