We built a deck last summer and we didn't realize how hot it was going to be on our deck. We wanted something to block the sun for our daughter (who is 2). Then deck boards became very hot and we didn't want our daughter walking around burning her feet. This sunshade was very easy to install and very quick to put up and takedown. I ordered this Sun Shade Sail when an extreme heat wave was predicted for Western Oregon. It arrived just in the nick of time. After about twenty minutes of installation we had a shaded pool. I have to admit that most of that installation time was spent as my husband repeatedly threw a wrench with a rope tied to it up into a tree. Finally he got it go over the targeted branch! The heat wave arrived. As the temperature hit 115 ( Wow was that hot! ) we were able to spend the whole weekend in the pool without being sun burnt. ... show more

My use of this sunshade is a little unusual, perhaps. I have a new pergola over my patio and decided I wanted some additional shade to reduce the sunlight coming through the slats in the roof. Because I've been working from home, I've done some of that work on the patio and sunlight coming through the slats onto my laptop was not a good situation. This shade has been just the right solution for that problem. The shade is not rectangular. The corners extend in order to facilitate hanging it tightly, which works great. I was concerned when I ordered the shade because I didn't know whether the 8' x 12' dimensions were from corner to corner or measured across the shade at the middle where it's more narrow. I needed it to be from corner to corner in order to fit inside the pergola frame under the slats, and that's what it is, so it fits great. I also purchased some a Weiatas Sun Shade Sail Hardware Kit to mount it to the pergola and putting it up was a piece of cake. The turnbuckles in the kit make it easy to tighten the shade and will allow me to further tighten it as the shade stretches. I've rated this shade 5-stars for durability, though I've only had it a couple of weeks and am not in a position to evaluate that, but the material appears to be up to the challenge... it's not obviously something that's just not going to last. We're still deciding whether or not to purchase a 2nd shade for the other end of the pergola. If we decide to do that, we will purchase this same shade, not just to match but because we're very happy with it. ... show more

I love the color very attractive a wheat gold color. I am using this to shade a tank that I have for a vegetable garden I needed good shad cover as I live in Arizona and the sun is so hot plus the concrete wall reflects heat into the yard as well so this should keep us a tad cooler! I have not put it up yet we are doing that this weekend and I will take a photo to add here if I can do that at a later date. ... show more

I bought this because I wanted some shade while I was grilling. The price, quality and appearance was a lot better than the local hardware store. It was easy to install with the additional purchase of hooks and turnbuckles. The shade it provides is great and it has the added benefit of shading our outside A/C unit. We live in Nevada and get a LOT of wind; it handled the wind with ease and shows no sign of damage. Be sure to measure carefully. It's better to be a little short because you need to be able to stretch the fabric to ensure a better appearance ... show more

I had a couple of water filled tanks that support some overhead lights on the patio and thought that they would also support the sunshade. Well I was wrong as the water filled tanks moved under the weight of the shade. Need to have steel poles anchored in the ground with concrete to support this shade. This sun shade provides the perfect amount of shade. The rings are securely attached and the length of the ropes provided with the sunshade allow a lot of flexibility with hanging. I have not used it for rain coverage so am not familiar with it's level of being water proof. For my patio, the sun shade is the perfect option over an umbrella. Umbrellas take up floor space and typically break down from sun exposure in a matter of a few years.
