    • Cheaply made, much set up needed

This ukulele is ok for a beginner, but a lot of work had to be done before I could even give it to the beginner I bought it for. The metal frets stuck out way too far and I spent a great deal of time trying to file them, as they were so sharp it cut fingers! Even after filing, I don't think it kept correct intonation on the higher frets. A beginner, who may never play above the 5th fret may not notice, but this is a huge manufacturing error. The overall sound is ok. Many factors effect sound, including the strings that come with it. I would probably switch those out, as Aquila Nygut strings aren't my first choice. The ukulele is very lightweight, so a beginner may like that. And the design is pretty. This ukulele is not for an experienced p!ayer, unless you want a spare ukulele to practice on. Even that is questionable. For the price, the saying "you get what you pay for" applies. Be prepared to spend a lot of time working on setting it up so that you can actually play it. ... show more

This is absolutely such a perfect first budget ukulele. You have everything you need to get started. Holds its tune. Good string and replacement strings aswell. It is important for me as a ukulele player to recommend good ukulele because so often people get ones that won't hold tune. The neck is big and the action is good. The strings are close to the neck so it makes it easier to learn so you don't have to press down such a long distance. This really is solid and you get a lot for how much it is! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This Uke is awesome! I was impressed at how beautiful it is. The design around the sound hole are beautifully carved and it adds a lot of character. The built in tuner is so nice to have (and they also include a clip on tuner as an extra). I plugged this into my guitar amp and it sounds great with a little adjusting on the EQ settings. A flat EQ makes it sound incredibly bright and I prefer a darker sound so I just rolled the highs out a little bit and it sounds great. The gig back is really nice quality. I love it. it's a great deal for a great sounding uke. I will definitely bring this in to my arsenal when I go out on gigs! ... show more
