I got this product to connect my old CRT monitor to my desktop. This adapter let me do so with no issues. I had to manually add in a 640x480 display mode via Custom Resolution Utility, but other video modes with different refresh rates were immediately available after installing the device.     • Got it working well, with a little bit of fiddling.
For a few years, I have been using a 32" HDTV as my monitor for both gaming and doing some general working from home. My previous graphics adapters have all had VGA ports or at least DVI-I ports where you could use a DVI-VGA adapter. I just purchased a new video card and I noticed it and all new cards don't seem to have the DVI-I ports any more. I would use HDMI, but my TV does not support sleep mode as a monitor through the HDMI. I bought this cheap adapter to use instead and it is currently working, though not perfectly. I have it working as I want but had to jump through some hoops. Windows detected the native resolution of the TV as being 1280x1024, where it is in fact a full HD TV. Luckily I was able to go into the Nvidia adapter settings and create a custom resolution for full 1920x1080. For those in a similar bind, I set timing to DMT. It is working now, and seems to be a decent adapter for such a cheap price. My only issue now is when I go into game settings, it will only let me choose a maximum of 1280x1024. If I leave my setting alone, they will play at the correct resolution. Will be dificult with setting up new games . ... show more

    • Works and is inexpensive, but is not perfect
It is an inexpensive solution to convert the DP signal from my Radeon RX580 video card to VGA for my old analog legacy monitor from Dell. However, it does not produce a perfect image. There exists video noise in the form of horizontal lines all up and down the screen. It is like watching a waterfall as the lines scroll down the screen. That said, they are small enough it is not too noticeable or distracting for regular PC use, but my eyesight is so good I can make it out and be temporarily distracted from time to time. If you have even slightly sub par eyesight, you probably won't notice it much, if at all, but if you are like me and have near perfect sight, you may be a tad annoyed by the noise. Otherwise, it works just as expected. Plugs and plays easily enough and certainly doesn't break the bank for a low cost conversion solution to give new life to that older monitor. If you want a noise free experience, though, maybe look for an "active", vs. this "passive", converter instead. ... show more

Like most people, I am working from home now due to covid. Received a new Dell laptop from my employer after my government-issue HP decided to go wonky, only to discover there is no monitor connection on the new Dell laptop. I wasn't in the office to raid the IT room for supplies, so I ordered two of these adapters, half expecting them to be junk. They arrived quickly (next day!) and work well; easy to connect! There are many different options so make sure you order the right adapter! Ever since I purchased my Rankie DisplayPort (DP) to VGA Adapter, the opposite sex has not looked at me the same. Its like they know I have something special under the desk. Since I purchased this item I have gained 35lbs of solid muscle and I can run the mile in under 5 minutes. I no longer need coffee in the mornings and I require less and less sleep, as my computer monitor works perfectly with its new adapter. The hair on the top of my head is growing back, and several of my wrinkles seem to have gone away. I am not sure what is with this product, but it seems to have turned back time. TLDR: This adapter worked perfectly and arrived in quick order. I may need another one, and would use this same model again.. ... show more

    • Solid feel, good resolution.
Works well @ 1920 x 1080 resolution, the max my monitor works with. Unfortunately, at that resolution, the color quality decreased a little (not enough to bug me at all) and the image looked a tiny bit stretched. As for reliability, I've had this for a few weeks and it's kept up, but the Rankie brand has held up well for me. I have another adapter (HDMI to VGA) that has worked well for about a year now. Neither adapter seems near death. The size is also quite reasonable. The cord coming out makes a huge difference. A normal adapter would be smashed off on my computer, but this one flexes just like a normal cord - solid connections, no wiggle, and a solid feel. ... show more

    • Works great for Super Resolutions or normal in Retroarch!
Super satisfied with how easy it was to use this adapter to play emulators on a modern pc using a zero lag VGA monitor. The resolutions aren't exact but with some fiddling and this adapter you are most of the way there! Wanted to leave this review because somehow even though lots of people use it for this purpose, no one has left a review letting the rest of us know it works. ... show more
