Description

SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY WITH A SMIDGEN OF HOMICIDE USA Today Bestselling author Tonya Kappes brings you southern and quirky characters in her mystery series. Her stories are charged with humor, friendship, family and life in small southern towns. As we say in the south beauty is only skin deep but ugly...now that runs straight to the bone. When Miss Daniel Boone Days is murdered and our good friend Helen Pyle, owner of Cute-icles beauty salon is standing over our beauty queen with a gun, lets just say Helen didn't giddy up on out of there. Nope. She was hauled down to the sheriff's department and booked for murder. Ranger Tucker Pyle is taken off the case because let's just say he knows his Aunt Helen didn't do it, but who better to snoop around to help him out? Yep! You guessed it! The Laundry Club Ladies and Mae West once again find themselves with their sleuthing notebook in hand and get all gussied up to find out just who is behind the murder. After all everyone has beauty but not everyone sees it. Read more

  • Fabulous cozy mystery
This is my favorite Campfire and Criminals book so far as Mae and the Laundry Club Ladies sleuth their way through a mystery when Miss Daniel Boone Festival is murdered. I just love Mae and enjoy her dynamic with the other characters especially her boyfriend Hank and am rooting for them to have a HEA. When I started reading Rangers, RVs and Revenge I felt like I was in Normal, Kentucky and everything in my mind's eye was in technicolor and real thanks to Tonya Kappes for her incredible writing and there's no way I can put the book down until I've read the last word. I also like that each book can be read as a stand-alone though I can't imagine why anyone would want to miss out on all the fun and southern charm of the entire series; and, if you are a camper Ms. Kappes includes some great camping hacks and delicious recipes. I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review. ... show more

  • Daniel Boone Day Festival
It's time for the Daniel Boone Day Festival. There are a lot of activities planned even a Queen and her Court. There's a big scandal happening, the Queen an her Court aren't having their hair and nails done done at Helen's place, Cute-icles. Every Queen has had her hair done at Helen's place for the last 29 years. The new Queen is a little on the snooty side for a small town. Alice, the Queen, starts trying to give Dottie a ruff time in the dunking booth. Dottie bets Alice that she can't hit the target, Alice misses and has to take Dottie's place in her evening gown. Helen is still really upset and runs at the target and hits it with her hand, Alice falls into the water. Short time later Helen is found standing over Alice's dead body holding a gun. It's time for Mae and the Laundry Club Ladies to get their notebook out and go to work. Good story with some happiness in it. ... show more

  • Laughter, Action Packed and Fun
Mae and everyone else are out enjoying the festivities at the Daniel Boone Day celebration. When Miss Daniel Boone Festival is murdered. Seems like even Miss Daniel Boone Festival was not safe in Normal, Kentucky. I guess Mae needs the help of The Laundry Club Ladies to figure out those clues. I was laughing so hard at Dottie in that dunk tank, my dogs were giving me funny looks. Mae and Hanks relationship has taken a new turn. Not exactly what Hank originally planned. Twists, laughter and just fun reading this book. I received an ARC prior to publication and decided to voluntarily review it. ... show more

  • Not the usual tonya read
I got behind on this series and was excited for summer vacation to arrive so I could read more of the camper series. But this one was not only short, it left out scenes that made me wonder what was missing. The who done it was obvious from the beginning. I'm about to begin the next installment which I hope is as well done as the previous books prior to this one I just read. ... show more

  • What a hoot!
This latest book in the Camper & Criminals series is perfect for a few chuckles along with a great mystery. The characters and the setting of Normal, Kentucky are anything but normal. This time Helen Pyle, owner of Cute-icles hair salon is accused of murdering the Miss Daniel Boone Days winner. So everyone is investigating to see who did it. Mae, Hank and the Laundry Club Ladies are all on it. It was a great mystery full of twists and turns and before I knew it, the book was done. And what’s happening with Hank and Mae is really amping the series up. Can’t wait to see what happens next. I really enjoy immersing myself in this crazy world for a short time. Now back to reality to wait for the next one. ... show more
