It was easy to visualize the countryside, the characters, the houses, and the towns of Texas and smell the home cooking! The challenges of the main character, Lisbeth/Savannah are easily recognized by any woman who has loved, lost, or yearned. This book would be ideal for a group as it would promote conversation about many subjects that the author knows well, not just families and food, but quilting, love of animals, riding, and appreciation of nature. This ticked a lot of boxes for me. It had the mystery elements; a love story continued through generations; self discovery and empowerment; and forgiveness of self and others. This was well written and a very quick read.

This was truly a great story. I liked all of the characters and love quilting myself. The story was a little difficult to follow at times, especially in the beginning as the passage of time or change of scene was difficult to follow. There were minimal breaks between paragraphs so it was sometimes difficult to know which character was speaking, but, overall, the story was interesting enough to continue reading to the very end. ... show more

A very well written tale of Texas and some of the special folks who live here. Living in the heart of Texas myself, I was happy to find so much I recognized in this mystery story that also includes some sweet romance. I would love to read more about these characters and what happened next!
