Bought 2 of the 12 x 10 rainflies for me and my husband. We just started hammocking, but our 14 y/o son has been doing it for 3+ years. He has a 12 x 12 Kelty Noah Tarp and really liked our new tarps. They are smaller (when packed) lighter weight and easier to set up. He is a Boy Scout and with hiking a big part of his summer weight is important. The rain fly was easy to set up, and it covered my hammock really well. My husband was unsure it would cover his completely. He is 6'4 and his hammock is 10'10 long and it was perfect. The tarp is great, kept us dry at night when the dew was very heavy. When the rain started again kept us dry. Love the "S" hooks they make breaking everything down super easy. The only cons we have is with the guy lines and the bags. The guy lines are to flimsy and thin and tangled easy. I will be changing them to paracord. The bags are the same material as the tarp which makes it hard to get the tarp and guy lines in and close the bag without it sticking. Seems like good quality. Has held up to half a dozen nights of camping. Moderate wind and a little rain a couple times - did fine. Stakes are okay, not great - be careful with them, they don't feel really burly. Cord is okay - a little bit of reflectiveness, but not like high-qual reflective guy lines. Finish on the included clips/carabiners is a little rough and they are a little smaller than I expected, but they get the job done and small = light weight, so I'm okay with that. THe tarp itself is not really a light-weight. Coverage is adequate for standard hammock (can just cover a 11' warbonnet hammock, but will likely not protect the ends from blowing rain). Not sure what to say about the "survival" tool ... I hope you are buying this for the tarp and not because they give you that... I'd say overall, good tarp - 4/ 5 stars. While not the "perfect tarp," you won't get that for this price and this model is one of best values I've seen bought in the budget tarp category over last few years. ... show more

This is a fantastic piece of equipment for the price. Stitching is solid if slightly imperfect in a few places. Fabric is good quality and I believe it will hold up well. Tie outs are adequately reinforced. Cat cuts are well executed and always preferred. Comes with everything needed to put it to use. Stakes are good quality and the cordage is acceptable though I question its long term viability. I replaced the ridgeline with zing-it and hardware from dutchware but Im still using the tie outs and will probably just modify them with shock cord. My only problems other than the cordage are aesthetic. I would prefer more muted/woodsy color oprions, and could do without the large logos. But none of this takes away from the quality or usability of the fly. Even the "survival bracelet" is somewhat useful with the small ferro rod, cordage, and whistle.(I know they are ridiculous buth hey you never know) Compass doesn't work but that is expected. Overall its a great buy and earns 5 stars for its price to quality ratio. I know you could pay more and get something similar that might not even include everything to put it to proper use. With hope if I do find the need to update it will only be to confirm long term use. ... show more

My husband was looking for sun and rain protection in a 12x10 tarp and found it from these guys. We got the gray big one and it looks really well in the forrest. I found the fit and finish to be well done and it seems like it will be long-lasting for sure with all the reinforcements. Being from Arizona, Sun Protection was very important to me and it does a fine job blocking out the UV Rays, I slept till honey made lunch for me and the kids. The big plus is also the waterproof feature and i must say, i don`t know why all of you are arguing about the rope but mine is very sturdy, and did you noticed the carabiners? WOWW, assemblage is more quicker than my son after candies. Overall i am very happy with my tarp and would buy another. Oh ya, and the price is great! ... show more

I just used the fly this weekend and was blown away. It is fairly lightweight and thin, but feels really tough. The gussets are reinforced well and it looks like it will last. They also added helpful coated metal clips for all attachments and ropes. In addition the stakes are metal with rope lanyards for easy removal. Finally the bag is tough and very slightly oversized. There is enough room for packing up at the end of the stay. The only downside is it really isn’t made for ultralight camping. It’s light for normal people, but if you really travel light, look elsewhere. However if you camp this way, you probably already know this. If they make a hammock to these standards, I’m buying it. ... show more

I got this as an afterthought and tossed it in my backpack tackle box just in case. Few days later I decided to walk in and fish a remote area and there was no forecast of rain (0%). Started raining 30 minutes after I started fishing and didn’t stop for 5 hours (light rain/drizzle). I pulled it out and had a great day, fishing was excellent, and I was dry. I was pleasantly surprised by quality and versatility. Also packed away fairly easily back into its pouch. Glad I had it and will make sure I have it in the future. Lightweight but a little bigger/bulkier than I thought but I’m not a hiker/backpacker so not a big inconvenience for me (I did get larger size). Only used it once but seems well built and looks like it will last a good long time with a little care. ... show more
