Bought 2 of the 12 x 10 rainflies for me and my husband. We just started hammocking, but our 14 y/o son has been doing it for 3+ years. He has a 12 x 12 Kelty Noah Tarp and really liked our new tarps. They are smaller (when packed) lighter weight and easier to set up. He is a Boy Scout and with hiking a big part of his summer weight is important. The rain fly was easy to set up, and it covered my hammock really well. My husband was unsure it would cover his completely. He is 6'4 and his hammock is 10'10 long and it was perfect. The tarp is great, kept us dry at night when the dew was very heavy. When the rain started again kept us dry. Love the "S" hooks they make breaking everything down super easy. The only cons we have is with the guy lines and the bags. The guy lines are to flimsy and thin and tangled easy. I will be changing them to paracord. The bags are the same material as the tarp which makes it hard to get the tarp and guy lines in and close the bag without it sticking. This Evolution Rain Fly Tarp is fantastic. I recently started hammock camping and was looking for a tarp shelter large enough to cover my hammock and the pup's tent for a 100-mile thru-hike. The 12x10 size tarp gave us enough room to cover both our sleeping areas and kept our camp dry during an all-day rainstorm. It also did quite well when the winds speeds picked up. The Evolution Rain Fly's material didn't tear or rip, the guy lines held up wonderfully during the strong winds and kept us protected from the elements. I noticed the guy lines tend to tangle easily if you don't take the time to wrap them accurately. And getting a wet tarp back into its carrying pouch takes some fidgeting. I found it easier to ditch the carrying pouch and use a small grocery store plastic bag instead. But the tarp comes with 6 S Hooks, making setup and takedown quick and easy. And I liked the added survival bracelet. Definitely a nice bonus. I have used this tarp for 7 months now, from car camping to backpacking and in all kinds of weather. And after using the Evolution for 10+ trips, I can definitely say this is one great product. ... show more

Tarp, materials, contents 5 stars. That bracelet,,,, Certainly wasn't why I bought the packagte, but that thing is a joke. The tarp is exactly as advertised though,,, and they send lots of extras with it. SO well worth it. Tie off points are well made, not just gusseted rings, waterproof in most cases, won't stop a monsoon, but there isn't much that will. Would reccomend. ... show more

This was the best investment I’ve done last year. A well-designed hiking equipment, made of high quality nylon fabric and a well-set system of coverage. I've used it two times already and it hasn't disappointed. Once, I took this package, that weighs a bit less than 2 lbs, onto my hiking trip in the nearby mountains. We were a group of three persons and we have split the hiking luggage among us. Our three-day trip was "attacked" by a nice storm, but we had set up our rain tarp in no-time and it could gather us under its approximately 100 square feet of space. In seconds, we've built a decent waterproof shelter. Its fabric is durable and offers 100% of protection. Next time, I've used it as a hammock and a sunshade. My friends and I used to go in the parks and have some recreational time on tightrope walking. And as I am more of a watcher than a learner, I have set my hammock tarp and the shade, protecting me perfectly from the sunlight and UV rays. For those, who are seeking of a lightweight, all-in-one portable and multifunctional hiking and tripping kit, this is one is for you. Impressive product overall, especially for the price. Weighs right at 2 pounds trail weight. Holds up in moderate wind and heavy rain. Kept our backpacking tent dry for a couple days in heavy rain in Alaska. Was initially thinking that the fabric was too heavy for backpacking, but it holds its shape and stays tensioned for days (does not stretch). It is durable. Rigs easily once set up. Good for the price. Negatives: the paracord is not particularly high quality, although it gets the job done. The tensioners on mine were also not rigged correctly, necessitating rerouting the paracord and retying knots to get them to work correctly. The stakes are also cheap and bend easily. I had some old titanium stakes so it wasn’t a big deal. Plan to buy stakes elsewhere. ... show more
