  • Very good motion sensor
Over the years, I have purchased several of these type of devices for lighting security. This model STL200 is quite good. Easy to install. After a few adjustments, I have found that the unit's sensitivity is good to about 35 feet. Overall, I am satisfied with the unit's performance. Good value for the Money spent. ... show more

  • Good Value Replacement
These motion/heat detectors for outside lights work great and save electricity. This model was installed during an addition to my home 10 years ago on the front of my garage. It started acting up so I bought this on Amazon as a replacement. It was easy to install, had all necessary parts and clear instructions. ... show more

  • Replacement part
My sensor died after 20 years. Bought this replacement. Works like a charm.

  • Excellent Sensor...Works great.
I finally installed this the other day. The original motion detector that was installed over my house’s garage area never worked well from day one. So I finally decided to purchase a good quality one. This was easy to install and after a half hour or so of adjustments for sensitivity, I got it just perfectly dialed in. The company supplies pieces of plastic that go on the sides as blinders so cars going up and down the street won’t set it off. My driveway is at least 75 feet long, and cars were setting the motion detector off. I put about a 2 inch blinder on the street side of the detector and problem solved. You can also override the motion detector and just turn on the lights for the garage, or wherever, so they stay on. Finally I have one that works! ... show more

  • Good external sensor, larger, needs some adjust to 'dark'
I purchased three of them. One to use with a single LED flood near the front door which works out well. A second to use near the garage with a single LED flood. And a third one to use with a standard light fixture for a light near the kitchen door. All of them have been working well. It's easy to adjust sensitivity. They look pretty good and seem well built. But the body is all plastic and nothing on the body was aluminum, so the item title is misleading in that regard. I have two issues (1) they are a bit larger than I want, but that may have some deterrent value also; (2) they come on a bit earlier than dark more like dusk at the darkest setting, but that's not a big issue for me since I have them on switches. ... show more

  • RAB quality
Works as intended. Has held up great so far over the past 1.5 years on the south side of a building in central MA - everything from 90°F / 70% humidity summers, to -14°F winters. It's location is only shaded for a few hours in the morning - the rest of the day, it receives direct sunlight. The one we bought from the chain home improvement store (NOT RAB brand) lasted 5 years before the grey plastic motion sensor shield disintegrated from UV damage. So far this one seems to be holding up well. I like the red LED that stays on all night - makes shady folks think twice about doing anything unlawful around here. I am using this on a Smartpack Wallpack light, so it's a bit big, gaudy, & ugly for this application, but it does the job. The mini sensor that came with it originally had failed about 3 years after installation. Would have been covered under warranty, but I liked the features and long warranty on this Stealth unit here. Will update in the future on durability. ... show more

  • Range is about 30 feet max
The range of motion detection is greatly exaggerated by the manufacturer. I replaced a cheap one from Lowes and got no better performance with the RAB unit which cost 3 times as much. It looks very durable, which it may be, but the functionality is low.

  • really great and caring service
initially, this review is about the New York Lighting Warehouse Amazon store, operated by Superior Lighting in Brooklyn, NY, because we haven't used the sensor. doing business with these folks is worry free. they go out of their way and drop what they are doing to make their customer feel important and to fulfill their expectations. we had our house painted in september. our 18-year-old motion sensor died in the power-wash. we really need the security of the light as we live on a dark alley, so my search for another sensor began. we have a large and powerful light (looks like halogen, but it's too high to see very well) mounted high on the side of our 3-story house and we have a smaller cfl yard light, both have to work with the same sensor. after many days of searching (there was a learning curve, as i had to learn a lot about sensors), i finally decided that the RAB 200 was the best sensor for us. on monday (today is thursday and the electrician will be here on saturday) i chose the bronze RAB Lighting STL200 Stealth Sensor, thinking it would look nicer than the white one with our dark green paint. it was not available for prime shipping, but the line on the ad said it would be delivered between wednesday, october 9 and friday, october 11 - which meant we would have it for installation on saturday, october 12. once i had made the purchase, i was surprised to see that the confirmation page said delivery would be october 11 to october 17. that's too late for me to use it...drat! mildly anxious, i quickly went through amazon's procedure for cancelling an order, began to worry about where i was going to find another sensor, and waited with some trepidation to find out how this potential screw-up was going to go. within a few minutes i received an email from mr. abraham knopfler of superior lighting asking how he could help. right away, i began to feel relief. he asked my location (seattle, wa) and assured me that they would get my sensor to me on time, then he engaged other people within his organization to make it happen. at my suggestion (i was regretting my color choice), they simply substituted the white one (which was eligible for prime) for the bronze one (that i had regretted choosing, anyway) and my sensor was delivered on wednesday, october 9, my birthday. nice gift! the sensor will be installed on saturday. after we have used it for a time, i will update this review with my impressions of the device. ... show more
