The R40S PRO is a great hand held retro console. It comes packed with games from many different retro consoles and runs very smoothly. The large IPS screen comes with bright and vivid colors, making the screen crystal clear when playing. The speaker on the console is loud and clear making gameplay enjoyable. The buttons and joysticks are great and sturdy, as well as the battery life, making you able to play for the whole day. The console charges with a usb-c charger cable making charging hassle free. It has 2 SD card slots and comes with a 256GB SD card (OS/EmulStation and already 81.5 GB of games). The console runs EmulStation on Linux Ark OS v2, you can download new roms (games) from your computer into the SD card to play them on the console. Overall, this console is great for road trips and at home. Its smooth gameplay and large colorful screen make gaming very enjoyable.

My 13yr old loved this as much as I did. It is loaded with thousands of games. I’ve had it for 3 weeks and I still haven’t gone through all the games but we’ve been pretty entertained with it. I live that it has all the retro games I used to play as a kid and now my kid is playing them as well. The sound is loud if u put volume all the way up. It’s obviously hand held and the best featur? Doesn’t require internet to work! I’m grateful for being allowed to try this great product and even though I got it through vine, I think it’s totally worth the price!

I ordered this gaming handheld and wasn't sure what to expect. It took a bit to arrive but when it did my husband and I were blown away. The graphics are really good on this handheld but what was more impressive was ALL the games! You have access to all the games you grew up playing plus some!!! We laughed as there are many that are "name brand" but in different languages. My husband is excited for this as it takes him back to his childhood and we can share with our kids. All the different consoles combined into one! One thing we did note is that the charging on this cannot be expedited by using a fast or larger charge head. It will only charge with the correct connection.

As someone who grew up playing games on a classic Game Boy, I’ve always been nostalgic for those old-school video games. Over the years, I’ve experimented with game console emulators that connect to the TV, but I thought a portable gaming system, much like the handheld devices we used back in the day, would be a more convenient option. When I came across the IHH R40S Pro Handheld Mini Retro Gaming Console, I was excited about the idea of having over 30,000 pre-installed games and all the potential to relive those memories on the go. At first glance, the display on this handheld console is impressive. The 3.5-inch HD screen provides bright, clear visuals that are far superior to anything I remember from back in the day. The colors are vibrant, and the screen quality is a big upgrade from the grainy screens of old gaming devices. The compact size makes it easy to carry around, and it certainly feels like a modern take on retro gaming. However, once I started using it, I ran into some frustration with the controls. While the layout is similar to what I’m used to with other retro gaming systems, it’s not particularly intuitive. The button mapping is something I’m still struggling with after several attempts. I find myself frequently pressing the wrong button, leading to situations where I have to restart everything. This is especially aggravating since the instructions provided with the device don’t offer much in the way of helpful guidance. The manual is minimal at best, leaving me to figure things out through trial and error. This might be fine for those who are very tech-savvy or already familiar with emulators, but for a casual user like me, it’s a bit of a hassle. The issue, in my opinion, stems from the fact that the buttons are not dedicated to specific functions in the system. Unlike other gaming devices where there are clear, distinct buttons for navigating between menus or playing different games, this system uses a layout that feels more rigid and designed to mimic other emulators. While that’s understandable from a design standpoint, it also means I’m left with a button scheme that doesn’t necessarily suit the interface well. To resolve this, I think the company would need to either redesign the button layout or offer a more comprehensive manual to help users understand the controls better. Despite these frustrations, the real draw of the IHH R40S Pro is its game library. Having over 30,000 games at your fingertips is incredible. I was able to find nearly all of the classic titles I loved as a kid, and the fact that the system includes multiple versions of each game is a nice touch. You can easily recreate the experience of whichever gaming console you had back in the day, whether it’s the NES, SNES, or Sega Genesis. It’s a treat to be able to play titles like *Frogger* and *Pac-Man* wherever I go, even if it means I have to spend some time figuring out how to control the game without a joystick. Another highlight of the system is the 3800mAh battery. It’s pretty impressive how long the system lasts on a single charge. I’ve had several long gaming sessions without the need to plug it in, which is a huge plus for portability. The 256GB storage means it offers plenty of room for all your favorite games. In terms of performance, the IHH R40S Pro does a solid job. The games run smoothly with minimal lag or glitches, which is essential for a good retro gaming experience. While the menu system takes some time to get used to, once you’ve figured it out, navigating through games is relatively easy. However, I do wish there were more customizable settings to adjust the controls or display options for a more personalized experience. Overall, I think the IHH R40S Pro Handheld Mini Retro Gaming Console has a lot of potential but also a fair share of drawbacks. The large selection of games and the high-quality display make it a great option for anyone looking to relive the nostalgia of retro gaming. However, the confusing controls, lack of proper instructions, and the button layout can make it frustrating for new users. If the company were to address these issues, it would make for a much smoother experience. As it stands, it’s a solid product for those who are willing to invest some time learning how to use it effectively, but it may not be the most user-friendly option for those looking for an easy plug-and-play solution.

You can tell just with how the IHH R40S Pro is packaged, that this isn't another cheap handheld and should be pleasantly surprised by how well made it is. From the device's higher-end molding, to the well sounding, front facing speaker, and the very capable RK3326 CPU that plays every system (including PS1) without issues, there is little to no performance issues with the IHH R40S Pro. Yet, I do find the D-PAD overly stiff and the buttons to have a bit too much play to rate the device with 5 stars, since it is loaded with fighting games. The joysticks though, make many very playable, if you prefer them. All-in-all, this is a machine that is well worth the purchase and one I can easily recommend.
