What a fantastic machine. I have owned Campbell Hausfield compressors for years, I had several fail in a week or 2 of mid duty use. They were noisy. vibrating and after a year an oily mess. The Quincy after still looks and sounds new after a full year of the same duty cycle. I bought one of these locally and paid just a little more, but all I can say is WOW! This thing makes a lot of air! It will cost you a lot more than a Chinese compressor, but I was sold after I spoke to someone that had a Quincy in their shop for 15 years without any repairs and it running daily. after much research, i ordered the Quincy 7.5-HP 80-Gallon Two-Stage QT Pro Air Compressor from the amazon link to the air compressors direct website. unlike some other compressors that are assembled in usa from 'globally sourced parts' this compressor appears to be made and assembled in the usa. it is a slower running 1750 rpm motor and is fairly quiet for its size. it is much quieter that the 5hp 3400 rpm portable compressor that it replaced. i did have to buy a separate pressure regulator as the 160psi rated pressure is too much for many tools. the 'maintenance kit', consisting of 2 air filters and 3 quarts of oil for $60, they sort of require you to order to have a for a warranty. that is sort of a racket as it is available in stores for less. they also charged $12.00 shipping on the kit even though it arrived on the same pallet as the compressor via truck freight. when i called and questioned the $12 charge, they refunded it. overall i am very satisfied with the compressor. the 'made in usa' part is important to me on a major purchase like this. i am also satisfied with the air compressor direst company. i like the ability to call the company and get to actually talk to someone. . ... show more

These units are cast iron and designed to run for 50,000 hrs pump life. The pump rpm is very slow and overall the compressor is very quiet for its size.
