I've been through a few portable air compressors over the years and the Metabo HPT "The Tank" is genuinely in a different class. This thing means business. Recovery time is where it separates itself from the competition. It spools back up fast after a draw-down, which matters a lot when you're running nail guns or impact tools that cycle frequently. Nothing worse than standing around waiting for pressure to rebuild in the middle of a job — not a problem here. The tank capacity is excellent for a portable unit. You get a real reservoir behind your tools instead of the compressor constantly cycling to keep up. For framing, trim work, tire inflation, or running a plasma cutter's air requirement, it delivers without complaint. Noise level is reasonable for a compressor in this class — not whisper quiet, but not the ear-splitting racket you get from older oil-lube pancake compressors either. The oil-free pump means no maintenance headaches and no worrying about running it at weird angles. Build quality is immediately apparent. Good for small jobs

It works for now. Don't know how long it will last. I was used to an old oil type unit with a big electric motor that was 40 years old before it finally croaked. This is a whole different animal. It is very loud. When I first started it I thought it was going to scatter parts all over my shop but it finally aired up and cut off. It will get me by. Price was good though. ... show more

Big A dropped the price to $169. Almost broke a finger hitting the buy now button... Been watching researching and waiting for a couple of months. Received it today. Nicely packaged in perfect condition. Did the break in, closed the drain, started the timer. Took a little over 4 minutes to fill. I had seen more than one youtbe review showing 3½ minutes. Then I realized why. I live at 5300'. That makes a difference. Minus 3% cfm/hp per 1000' elevation (same rule for IC engines and air compressors). That is a reduction of 15.9% for an elevation adjusted cfm rating of 3.364 and that is why mine took longer than the sea-level youtubers. Nevertheless, I would buy it again at $169, probably not for the reg price of $249. It is nicely designed/built, and will do what I need. Update, Had it for 6 days now. Let it fil and turned it off. After 5 days it was still at 180psi. Not particularly quiet but not loud enough that it will make your ears bleed either. ... show more

Misrepresentation by manufacturer. The maximum internal pressure is 200 PSI but the maximum regulated output is only 150 PSI. This is confirmed by Metabo rep through the Q&A on Lowe's website. See screenshot picture and my actual picture. I'm thinking about returning because these are not the specs I purchased. I feel ripped off.
