  • Thumbs up as it holds up well. It is heavy and can be awkward to set up.
I bought this to replace an older model i had. The frame and canopy fabric seems almost identical with minor variations. The frame is very heavy. I tethered the top corners to solid ground or deck with 1/8 inch rope, with additional stakes, or screws, at the base of each corner frame pole. The old one could stand up to a thunderstorm but i live adjacent to heavily wooded tree line. It probably wouldn't hold up in an open area as the canopy fabric would most likely tear in the wind. The frame remains rigid anchored this way so i don't need to worry about the frame twisting or bending the top horizontal cross-members. I still have the frame from the previous model as the old canopy fabric finally deteriorated from UV exposure after 7 years. This was purchased as a replacement because i could not get assurances thia model's fabric would fit the old frame. It provides good shade and doea not trap the heat. I put it up on the deck at the back of the house facing south. I have measured the summer Virginia sun to just under 110 at the vinly siding and higher with surface temp of the wood deck. It is comfortable (all things considering with Virginia humidity) under the shade. If i can get another 5 to 7 years out of this shade i will be very happy. Considering the price, this is a very inexpensive to have shade on our deck for us and the dogs. My only complaints are a wide sewn fabric seam in one corner and one leg extension does not remain in the telescoping leg support when collapsed for storage. I need to flip the collapsed product over (upside down) to carry or move it for storage. I take it down for forcasted thuderstorms, severe weather events, and vacations; otherwise it is set up for the entire summer. It is not the easiest to raise the top even with the fabric not secured over the corners. I don't find it very portable and use a lighter model (different manufact) for using a canopy on the go. Again, this frame is heavy. This new model held up in a moderate storm and appears to work just like the older one. I would recommend this product based on how i use it. ... show more

  • Hands down the best canopy!
Color: Taupe
I bought one of these canopies from Sports Authority before they closed down over 10 years ago and it's still going strong. Maybe some tiny pinholes from years of use but this one is the best. Heavy duty legs and truss along with heat resistant inside lining and the vent up top to keep things cool underneath. We use these for overnight fishing and weekend camping. Tied down correctly and they been through strong beachfront winds and heavy rains. These are not meant to be a permanent structure for your yard or garage. If they accumulated water and collapsed or got destroyed in heavy wind it's time to build something permanent. Highly recommend this Quickshade Summit. ... show more

  • I've owned 6 of these over the years...
Color: Taupe
No complaints about anything other than the canopy material. The frames are terrific, solid, can take windy punishment. I did have a problem with one of the thingys that fold up the upper tiers - the tack welds are not 'expert' for sure, but have held up except for the one - snapped off, but manufacturer mailed me one at no charge, so I'll let that pass. I use these to park my car under. Weights on the legs are a good idea. Open the tiers when it's windy to reduce pressure in gusty conditions, and lower the overall height, as there are 3 heights available. Now, the canopy. Issue 1 - I twice was able to order replacement tops years ago. Took a good amount of work to wade through red tape, but I got there. These have always cost about $175 with the frame, I got the replacement canopies for about $100 each. I get that sellers want to sell stuff for more money. I want a 'right to repair' these quite solid frame with an easily available replacement top - WITH A COLOR SELECTION - for the SummitX! Why is this such an issue?! You must sell that alongside the full package, come on. Issue 2 - The material has changed over the years. Definitely lighter weight now. It lasts for a shorter period now - about a year in full sun - and will begin shedding some of the coating, which leaves splotches on my windshield that I have to use a rag to remove (wipers don't get it all). The material becomes thinner with exposure, and what used to be just touchable becomes tear-able to the touch. (I use canopy tape on these small tears, both sides, and it works well.) Also, while the stitching is solid, the corners of those top tiers can be sloppy and poke thru with age. Should be some kind of plastic insert, which I fashioned and solves this. Also, as kind of an expert on this item, I have started using pool noodles over the frame where the canopy contacts the frame, and this really prolongs the life of the canopy material! So, to sum up: Very good product that deserves more robust canopy material, a replacement canopy option, small tweaks will prolong the canopy, and I'll continue to buy it. I do recommend. ... show more

  • More than what I was expecting
Color: Taupe
This is the time of year for thunderstorms, so I fully opened both of the top vents. I also put twenty-pound weights on each leg. We had some very substantial winds and the canopy did very well. At this time we had the remnant of hurricane Ida to deal with. We had 6 inches of rain. I had a cardboard box underneath the open vents. it did not get wet. I am very pleased with the canopy. ... show more
