  • Well worth the money!
Well worth the money! This bad boy is keeping our garage uber cool. I was a bit skeptical if this would be worth it, but I was quickly convinced otherwise. My garage is definitely cooling off far better than anything I did before. This was incredibly easy to install. Took us maybe 20 minutes to put up? It’s working well for the temp I set it at which is extremely easy to adjust. It’s not very noisy at all, but I should mention it’s pretty high up in my garage attic space. Seemed pretty sturdy other than the brackets that you screw into the wall. One came loose but was easy to reattach. Overall, I’m a strong believer in this and super happy I got this fan! ... show more

  • Doing it’s job
This is a very good fan. It does a good job cooling my attic. I have found that it keeps my air conditioner from running a lot during hot weather. It is well made and seems to be doing what it was advertised to do. It is easy to install and is very quiet. 😊

  • You can make this fan fully controllable with both speeds available and switchable.
The media could not be loaded. My husband is writing this review so that you or your electric technician can make it fully functioning beyond what the manufacturer deemed necessary. Here it is: By adding a High/Off/Low switch (Leviton 5685-W, about $36) plus a cheap elecrical junction box and some Romex 14/3 wire, (about $15 at Home Depot), you can make this fan into the efficiency equivalent of Quiet Cool's top model without the use of a mobile phone or tablet. Watch the video I included to see how you will be able to control the fan using your own judgement as to when it needs to be employed. The thermostat is still the ultimate arbitor as to whether the fan is on or off, so I suggest setting it to a relatively low temperature so you can have it on unless YOU turn it off. I have mine set to 80 degrees because we set our AC thermostat to that during the summer. I set this up on a table just to show it functioning. It is important to be able to change the speed to low after initially bringing your attic temperature down to the outside temperature using high speed. Otherwise, you use extra electricity just to blow outside air through the attic at a useless high speed. The first diagram shows the general connection of the fan, thermostat, switch, and junction box that connects them. The second diagram shows how the wires are connected to each other WITHIN those components. I also employ a wired remote thermometer up in the attic so I can compare the attic temperature to the outside temperature. (See the last picture). When they get close, its time to go to low speed. My fan arrived with a bent mounting bracket and set to low speed by default, both easily fixable. I am still collecting data as to the effect of the fan on using less AC. I will post again next year to report the results. UPDATE 6/2023: I have now tested the fan on several 95+ degree days. I have a 2100sf home with a roof pitch of about 12 degrees. This fan cannot prevent the temperature of my attic from climbing well up over 120 degrees even if it runs constantly on high all day. I might as well just leave it off until the sun goes down. However, as the outdoor temperature cools down below 85 degrees, the attic temperature follows suit, much faster than the attic cools without the fan. As a result, on nights when I am forced to leave the AC on most of the night, it cycles on and off noticeably less because there is less heat in the attic making its way into the house through conduction with the ceiling. So, the bottom line is that the fan does save electricity at night but not during the daytime. How much it saves is something that I will need the entire summer to calculate. ... show more

  • Recieved this fan Yesterday and giving a 4 rating for now
Out of the box today 2 mounting brackets bent, one very bent the other no so bad, both fixable. More likely damage was from shipping/ delivery!? Not able to register product per Quite Cool rep. This Co. needs to update owners manual for this fan (plug & play) . The fan itself looks great, if it does all it is written on manual, advertising, and at reviews from Amazon, HD & L and if it lasts 15 + years I'll be one happy camper, because the generic one installed on when house was built 9 years ago died this year when temps hit 110/112 degrees in foothills of central Ca. I really like the plug and play 20' cord instead of hard wire. Will be adding to review after installation performance. Do not like the fact that Made Built USA (I am all for) but the tag glued on motor say Made in Mexico but its good not country that starts with C.....! I am thinking about adding another at the other end of attic and run both at low speed (less noise). Will return to add to review...Helpful hint: If you are going to mount the fan on plywood...in my case gable has very large opening...setting fan on top of plywood and trace the outline of fan with pencil for a great cut out, reason: the measurement of fan and vent covers are not perfect. Mine mounting brackets from tip to tip is 21 1/2'' the other bracket is 21 1/4 '' the outside of the fan is a little oblong (one inside measurement is 16 1/2'' and the other cross measure is 17'' ) more likely after being put in box and setting on one side for weeks/months may be the reason? no big deal ! also fan are default pre-wired fast speed, all you do is set thermostat to temp you wish and plug it in. Hope it helps someone ! Installed today 8/14/21 using a pre-cut piece of plywood using the fan itself and traced to cut hole, and pre installed four 1/4'' bolts on plywood facing (in) as a hanger for the fan brackets (Hung it) then installed washers/nuts and used small wood screw that comes with fan for added security, its as solid as rock ...piece of cake, but advise getting another body it make even better...so far working great (smooth and quiet) and moving lots of air, doing what it suppose to do...worth the $$$. ... show more
