  • Well worth the money!
Well worth the money! This bad boy is keeping our garage uber cool. I was a bit skeptical if this would be worth it, but I was quickly convinced otherwise. My garage is definitely cooling off far better than anything I did before. This was incredibly easy to install. Took us maybe 20 minutes to put up? It’s working well for the temp I set it at which is extremely easy to adjust. It’s not very noisy at all, but I should mention it’s pretty high up in my garage attic space. Seemed pretty sturdy other than the brackets that you screw into the wall. One came loose but was easy to reattach. Overall, I’m a strong believer in this and super happy I got this fan! ... show more

  • Doing it’s job
This is a very good fan. It does a good job cooling my attic. I have found that it keeps my air conditioner from running a lot during hot weather. It is well made and seems to be doing what it was advertised to do. It is easy to install and is very quiet. 😊

  • High quality product and well documented to include QR codes to support videos!
To start, I was impressed that the box includes a convenient carrying handle (see photo #1). The contents is well packed for shipping and includes well documented instructions. A fan with a serial number? Yes, attached to both the fan cowling and the product manual! The manual includes clear color photos, QR codes to support videos and "System Venting Requirements" of 1 square foot per 750 CFM (with gable, dormer, eave, ridge, soffit, O'Hagin & turbine vent specs). The videos were excellent and informative. This QuietCool AFG PRO-2.0 attic gable fan replaced an attic fan (some other brand of course) that failed after 4 years (loud squealing indicative of failed bearings). The fan is installed over an octagon gable vent (see photo #2). As with the failed attic fan, this QuietCool fan is mounted on a 2'x2'x3/4" piece of plywood that is then attached with lag screws to 2x4s that frame the gable fan (see photo #3; notice the white damping tape to help eliminate vibration). The QuietCool includes 4 thick mounting tab anti-vibration tabs. Unlike my failed attic fan, the QuietCool AFG Pro-2.0 has a cowl that is almost 17" in diameter (vs 14") so the circular opening was increased. The gap between the cowl edge and plywood was filled with silicone caulk. As noted in the Wiring section of the Owner's Guide, the "fan came with the Adjustable Thermostat pre-wired on High Speed to a power cord". I plugged the power cord into a standard electrical outlet (that is controlled by an on/off switch in the living room) and the fan started flawlessly and super quiet! The thermostat was then increased to 80 degrees. It can be wired for Low Speed or to a High/Low/Off switch if desired. Unlike my failed fan that has a 1-year warranty & made in China, the QuietCool has a 15-year warranty & is made in Temecula, California, USA and has a handguard grill over the open end of the fan! ... show more

  • good value, easy to install, runs quiet
Easy to install. works well so far, runs quiet and easy to control with set point (didn't want another app on the phone, so went with the manual thermostat) Gave it an overall 4 star because the included paperwork didn't really include install directions or descriptions of all materials included.. Included rubber bushings (gaskets) to minimize noise, that go on the install tabs (that was easy enough to figure out) and 4 corrugated plastic pieces that are designed to go around the outside to funnel airflow. I had to go to Youtube to watch videos to fully understand. Overall, very happy with product and would recommend purchase. ... show more

  • You can make this fan fully controllable with both speeds available and switchable.
The media could not be loaded. My husband is writing this review so that you or your electric technician can make it fully functioning beyond what the manufacturer deemed necessary. Here it is: By adding a High/Off/Low switch (Leviton 5685-W, about $36) plus a cheap elecrical junction box and some Romex 14/3 wire, (about $15 at Home Depot), you can make this fan into the efficiency equivalent of Quiet Cool's top model without the use of a mobile phone or tablet. Watch the video I included to see how you will be able to control the fan using your own judgement as to when it needs to be employed. The thermostat is still the ultimate arbitor as to whether the fan is on or off, so I suggest setting it to a relatively low temperature so you can have it on unless YOU turn it off. I have mine set to 80 degrees because we set our AC thermostat to that during the summer. I set this up on a table just to show it functioning. It is important to be able to change the speed to low after initially bringing your attic temperature down to the outside temperature using high speed. Otherwise, you use extra electricity just to blow outside air through the attic at a useless high speed. The first diagram shows the general connection of the fan, thermostat, switch, and junction box that connects them. The second diagram shows how the wires are connected to each other WITHIN those components. I also employ a wired remote thermometer up in the attic so I can compare the attic temperature to the outside temperature. (See the last picture). When they get close, its time to go to low speed. My fan arrived with a bent mounting bracket and set to low speed by default, both easily fixable. I am still collecting data as to the effect of the fan on using less AC. I will post again next year to report the results. UPDATE 6/2023: I have now tested the fan on several 95+ degree days. I have a 2100sf home with a roof pitch of about 12 degrees. This fan cannot prevent the temperature of my attic from climbing well up over 120 degrees even if it runs constantly on high all day. I might as well just leave it off until the sun goes down. However, as the outdoor temperature cools down below 85 degrees, the attic temperature follows suit, much faster than the attic cools without the fan. As a result, on nights when I am forced to leave the AC on most of the night, it cycles on and off noticeably less because there is less heat in the attic making its way into the house through conduction with the ceiling. So, the bottom line is that the fan does save electricity at night but not during the daytime. How much it saves is something that I will need the entire summer to calculate. ... show more

  • Price Value + Attic Cool = Exceeded Expectations
The reviews given in relation to price made me give it shot. I have a super heated attic and given our recent temperatures had to do something immediately. It’s super easy to set up and within a day i noticed huge difference in temperature of my living space and reduced the stress on my hvac. It’s been about 2 weeks now and I have zero complaints. The value of price exceeds my expectations. ... show more
