The great thing about this charger is that it allows you to control the charging voltage and current, while backing your selection with the smarts of an adequate charging cycle and protecting the battery. The whole product description focuses on telling that this is easy to use, in spite of having so many more controls (that is, two rotary knobs and a power switch) than other, plug and forget chargers. Which leaves out both what makes this charger special, and why it costs significantly more (at least, at the time of this review) than other chargers that are even easier to use. The control knobs work smoothly, the construction looks solid. The display is clear and easy to read, large digits. On the top of the case there is a chart of values to guide the user through the settings for different types of batteries. Same info is also in the printed instructions, organized slightly different. I suggest taking a picture of the top chart on the charger before any mishap may alter it. Where this charger shines is that it lets you force the parameters for a battery that may be too discharged or otherwise behaving unexpectedly for the regular “smart chargers”, and also lets you control the way charging happens for regular, good batteries. I have other smart chargers that provide for saving weak batteries, de-sulfating cycles for lead-acid batteries, and other battery maintenance functions. But these chargers sometimes refuse to take on a battery that is too discharged or cannot keep up with the expected charging curve, and there’s nothing one can do to override their decisions. Truth be told, most of the times it is better to replace a battery in poor shape. But a replacement may not be readily available, and sometimes it is not about poor shape but the battery characteristics that are unusual and the charger is unaware. Also, some batteries are guaranteed by the manufacturer to support faster charging than a smart charger would decide to do based on averages for similar batteries. The instructions are focused on the positive aspects, but there is more than the general set of cautions to be kept in mind with this charger. I would stick to the battery manufacturer data and not go crazy on any battery just because charging fails and my immediate reaction is to reach for “the bigger hammer”, use a higher voltage / current. I am sure the built-in protections will save people from themselves on using this charger, I still would not risk finding some special case where protections may not be adequate. Though so far, all good, every battery I could throw at this charger got charged properly.

this battery charger is easy for me to use. Unlike other larger chargers this one is small and compact. I can easily carry it to where I need it. It also has good safety features that will shut it off when needed . No worries of overcharging.
