    • The smell ruins what could’ve been

Got the product via AMZN resale for $67. Seemed like an incredible deal - even to just reuse the bandpass box with a different sub if I wanted more power. It arrived, and was giving off a smell between rotting fish and burned/bad rubber. At first is seemed like it might just be some off gassing that would go away, and the price was great so I thought I could get around it. The build seemed ok, though there were some rattles to eliminate. Before I got to that, I hooked it up in my car. Sounded ok (except for rattles), and decided to leave it til the next day to deal with. When I opened my car door - the smell was super strong and soooo not good. Took it out and tried to find ways to knock the smell down or eliminate. I have given up now, realizing THERE IS NO WAY. I tried tons of Ozium spray, tons of febreeze, spraying with a Clorox bleach cleaner multiple times, airing out for days, putting it back in the car when I discarded a McGuire car deodorizing bomb, and anything I could think of. It’s been months and while it has reduced slightly - it still stinks and makes my car stink. Bummed, and I should have returned it immediately once the smell was detected. Thought I knew better and the reduced price fooled my into thinking I’d overcome the stench. Writing this to hopefully prevent someone doing same. Maybe they all don’t smell? My guess is something with coatings or adhesives used went bad - but I’ve no way to know. Hope this helps someone, or at least validates someone else if they end up in the same sitch. Decent box with an ok sub .. BUT , it pounds with a 600 watt Planet Audio amp bridged .. I wasn’t buying the box for the blue led lit back glow so I never even hooked that up.. pound for pound this is a great deal and a good start for a simplified system !

I knew that the speaker would be cheap and pretty much worthless but I didn't expect the box to be worthless as well even with the cheap speaker that comes with it it rattles terribly I even disassembled it and used construction adhesive caulk and all the joints and seams in the box and packed the box with dampening material like a cotton fluff steel rattles ... show more
