Litter-Robot owners know that not all clumping litters work equally well with the automated sifting mechanism, and using the wrong litter in a self-cleaning unit leads to clumping failures, sifting jams, and a generally unpleasant maintenance experience. Purina specifically formulated this Tidy Cats litter for Litter-Robot compatibility and I evaluated it across several weeks of use in an active multi-cat household to assess clumping performance, odor control, dust levels, and compatibility with the automatic cycling mechanism. The clumping formula is the most critical specification for any litter used in a Litter-Robot. The clumps need to form quickly and completely after use, achieve sufficient structural integrity to survive the rotation cycle without crumbling, and be small enough in diameter to fall cleanly through the sifting screen into the waste drawer below. This litter forms tight, hard clumps that hold together through the sifting cycle reliably. During the evaluation period I did not encounter any broken clumps stuck in the sifting screen or clump debris contaminating the clean litter layer below. Odor control is the other critical daily performance metric for any cat litter, especially in a multi-cat home where litter box usage frequency is high. The formula uses activated charcoal and other odor neutralizing agents that control ammonia and organic odor compounds effectively through multiple uses before cleaning. With the Litter-Robot cycling after each use, odor control is enhanced by the automation, but the litter itself needs to perform between cycles and it does so adequately. Dust levels are low, which matters both for air quality and for sensor performance in the Litter-Robot. High dust litters can coat the motion sensor and waste level sensor inside the globe, causing false readings and cycle errors. This litter produces minimal airborne dust during filling and during cycling. Granule size and weight are matched to the Litter-Robot's design requirements. The granules are fine enough to settle properly in the globe and move cleanly during rotation without the heavy clumping or sticking that some litters exhibit. We upgraded to litter robot 5 (from 3) and had to change the litter for it. So far we like it. We own two cats. The smell is fine and we appreciate the value of money for the litter (less expensive than the other brands we used). A bit tracking happens but but not more compared to what we used. Weight of the litter is okay. The quality of the litter is good. Sometimes the ease of clean is not perfect but in comparison to other litters similar. From time to time it just sticks in the globe but this happens with all the others litters we used too - would love if there would be any kind of magic to avoid it. Overall it is a better choice for us and we will continue with it! ... show more

Fantastic solution to my litter issues! I have 5 cats, 2 Litter Robot 4s & 1 pan with tall sides (some cats would not use Robot). I have been using this Tidy Cats litter for 3 weeks and now ALL CATS USE THE ROBOTS!! AMAZING RESULTS!! The litter clumps tightly and does not make a mess in the pan. The litter scent is so very light but keeps the drawer from getting stinky. Very low tracking. I just change the waste liners every other day & refill hoppers weekly. My life has changed 180 degrees! No accidents or intentional soiling! I am no longer herding cats. God bless Purina for this litter. ... show more

    • Works well. Packaging is crap
Best results of litters I’ve tried in the litter robot. Absorbs well. Fragrance is not overwhelming. Not too dusty. Doesn’t track as bad as others. Only 4 stars because of the container. No handle and the opening is a poor design.

I've been on the search for a non-clay clumping litter that would be compatible with my Meowant automatic litter box. THIS IS THE ONE! This litter is fantastic! It doesn't stick to the sides or bottom of the box, it has minimal tracking and the odor control is excellent! It's also priced well. So many others tracked so much litter that I was sweeping and/or vacuuming daily! My cat likes this litter as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! ... show more

Out of all the litters that we have used for our litter robot this one by far is the best. It absorbs and clumps fast. you don’t go through it as fast so that means you’re saving money. So it’s a great value. It does track. But not as much as other litters we’ve used in the past.

    • Overwhelming perfume smelling litter
The litter works ok, it does clump strong but a lot of pee half clumps were still stuck to the sides. I wull not buy this again due to the smell. It is punch you in the face, overwhelming strong. I think smelling the litter box would be better.
