  • SLOW but fresh drinking water
Size: 1 Pack
Even though these are SUPER slow, the filter works great at filtering undrinkable city tap water into clean drinking water. And we're talking like 1 drip every 5 - 10 seconds, SLLLOOOOW. But as long as I fill up the top reservoir of our PUR PLUS 30-Cup Water Filter Dispenser every time I walk by it, my family has clean water to drink. I change it out, probably less often than I should, about every other month. Though I do have this on Subscribe through Amazon to make sure when it's time to change, I have an extra ready. I'm comfortable enough with the price to keep in handy. Replacing it is easy, just soak the new one for a bit (fully submerged in cool water) and lock it into place. If the drip all but stops, I take it out and give it a shake and a rinse, and pop it back in. It's well made, fits like it should, and provides clean drinking water (even if it takes a while for it to provide it.) I still give it a 5 star, as it does what it's supposed to; filter ick water into yum water, though it takes a hot minute. ... show more

  • Great Product that exceeds expectations
Size: 1 Pack
Love these filters. Bought the water Pitcher and been using these PLUS filters and the water tastes amazing. Very easy to use, functions as described. The filter is descent size but the water filtering time is faster than I expected considering what the ad says. The filters fit tightly in the pitcher and there is no leakage from what i can tell. This is a GREAT product if you want to up the quality f your drinking water. The water actually tastes AMAZING after it filters through these filters. ... show more

  • Great price, clean water
Size: 3 Count
We have hard water, and sometimes you can smell the chlorine as it comes out the tap. We have a fridge with filtered water which is great, but also use a PUR pitcher for cooking when large amounts of water is needed quickly. The water tastes wonderful, no smells, and lots a chemicals removed as well. I don’t want a bunch of heavy plastic bottles around. This has to be a better and less expensive way for clean tasting water. Easy to replace, pitcher has a timed light on lid for when it’s time for a new one. ... show more

  • Water tastes much better. Easy installation.
Size: 3 Count
I live in an older house, with old pipes. Extremely hard water. I'm not risking drinking it from the tap without filtering it first. I use these filter refills for the Pur Plus 30 Cup Water Dispenser. Installation is simple, you twist and pull the old one out. You MUST presoak the new filter for 10 minutes prior to installation. It has a tight twist and lock system, very simple to use. Perfect fit for a replacement filter. Overall it works as intended, the water tastes much better than tap, and doesn't have all of the hard water mineral in it. The only complaint is, I don't think they last as long as claimed. I maybe get 4-5 weeks per filter if I only fill the tank once a day. You should def change it when it turns yellow, because if you wait until its red, it has the most miserable chemical taste, and it's harder to get that taste out of the tank. Overall I definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Avoid the lead filter - impractical filtering speeds
Size: 3 Count
Updating review for 1/13/2020, original review left below for context. So after filling over the past few days I've noticed it always stops filtering at a certain fill level. Taking the filter out of the container, I noticed the carbon granules looked fairly packed in the filter, and weren't moving around as I flipped the filter. I vigorously shook the filter for 10-15 seconds until it looked like all the particles were moving around freely, and put the filter back in the container. For the first time since installing this filter, the entire reservoir was filtered in a very quick amount of time. If you're encountering issues with the filter being incredibly slow or not filtering: - Take the filter out - Shake it (hard) for 15-20 seconds until it sounds like a maraca - Hold it under a faucet for ~30 seconds - Replace it Problems solved, review updated, will buy again :D Original review below: -------- I previously purchased the version of this filter that does not filter lead. I believe the model was PPF900Z or CRF-950Z. As much as I like the idea of filtering out lead, these are impractical for everyday use. I PUR's pitcher, the DS-1800Z, and I've never had an issue with any of the previous filters I've ordered from Amazon / PUR. This was the first time I've used the lead-specific filters, and these are so slow, I'm going back. I filled up the pitcher's reservoir before leaving for a weekend trip and there was still water in the reservoir to be filtered when I got back three days later. I believe the issue is these filters need more pressure to filter, so once the pitcher has filled up to roughly an inch from the bottom, there isn't enough pressure from the reservoir to continue pushing water through to be filtered. I can top the pitcher off again to get mayyyyyybe another 1/4 inch, but it has never filtered all the water in the reservoir like previous filters. For how much these filters cost, there's no way I'm refilling the pitcher every 10 minutes to make sure I have a usable amount of filtered water in reserve. ... show more

  • Certainly works!
Size: 3 Count
Ignore the bad reviews about folks complaining it filters too slowly. Its a very long filter that removes the lead, mercury and microplastics, of course it takes time to work. It took about 15 minutes to fill an 8 cup pur slim pitcher from empty. I do notice a small difference in taste(not much but it matters) using the filter compared to the standard pur. You also need to soak it in cold water for 15 minutes before using followed by a ten second rinse. A detail im sure many skip because no one reads instructions. If you need a great filter this certainly does the job. In a study Brita filtered water faster and tasted better but PUR filtered more chemicals and a wider range of them than Brita. So you can prioritize filter speed and taste with Brita or prioritize your health with PUR. ... show more

  • Slow as anything ! But very Efficient and no Fish Smell
Size: 3 Count
Slow isn't always a bad thing. Look at all of the stuff it is getting out of the water, like LEAD. Look at the benefits of lead removed from the drinking water. I found this on Google Search for those of you that may not be aware. Lead exposure can cause high blood pressure and brain, kidney and reproductive health issues in adults. Symptoms of lead poisoning include headaches, stomach cramps, constipation, muscle/joint pain, trouble sleeping, fatigue, irritability, and loss of sex drive. Most adults with lead poisoning don't look or feel sick. This didn't even address what Lead could cause to children. So it is slow. Yes it is. The reviews didn't exaggerate that one bit. Still, I'm pleased to know that it is taking the lead out along with 70 other contaminants. For the pitcher, I started using the one with the filter at the bottom of the filter to get additional contaminants, microbial cysts. I had a nice cold glass of water and it was the best I have ever had. I used to have artesian wells. At that time I was told that I had the best water. So I'm just really thank for that we have something so thorough that will take the lead out. I have had filtered drinking water that was fast going through and it tasted that way in the end. So far to date and I have used Filtered products and PUR is number one. I have used lots of bottled water too, and nothing compares to PUR. I don't care if it is fast or slow, but I do care what I get and that is crystal clear water. Don't use anything but PUR if this is your goal as well, especially in the city. Just fill it up and put it in the refrigerator to filter, You don't have to wait for it and if you don't want to do it that way, get a second pitcher. Don't make things so difficult for yourself, but do something about it. Get a second pitcher. ... show more

  • Sad but true..
Size: 3 Count
UPDATE: OCTOBER 28, 2024: I am now officially giving up my PUR pitcher, and getting a second Lifestraw glass pitcher instead. Apparently PUR discontinued this higher end 'plus' version of its filter (PUR PLUS PITCHER FILTER PPF951K), which reportedly filters out lead in addition to microplastics (unlike PUR's 'basic' filter - PUR BASIC PITCHER FILTERS PPF900Z - which doesn't filter out either), for a short period of time before bringing it back this summer, to much consumer confusion. But they still have not fixed the problem of the filters clogging prematurely. And with the growing knowledge re: the prevalence and harm of micro and nanoplastics in our water (and everywhere else!), which can shed from plastic bottles and pitchers, there's no compelling reason to keep using these. For others concerned about micro/nanoplastics, Lifestraw pitchers reportedly filter out more nanoplastics than the Pur plus filter, in addition to offering a glass pitcher. But as mentioned below, the Lifestraw glass pitcher still has many plastic components that come into continuous contact with the water it filters/holds, including the filters themselves (2 total), the filter housing, and the lid. Lifestraw has also recently double-downed on its newer offerings of plastic (vs glass) pitchers, with its new larger capacity pitcher only available in plastic, even while touting the pitchers' ability to filter out micro-plastics - not sure if they realize the irony of this. UPDATE: MARCH 29, 2020: Came back to update my review with continued frustration. These filters are absolutely junk. Just opened and installed yet another brand new one, and after one cycle, it's once again taking 1-2 days just to filter one jug of water. With all the consistently negative reviews from multiple credible customers, how can they not fix this?? As of last year, I have migrated most of my drinking/cooking water needs to the fairly new LifeStraw Home Water Filter Pitcher (https://www.amazon.com/LifeStraw-Bacteria-Parasites-Microplastics-Chemicals/dp/B07QQ857JJ/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=lifestraw+water+pitcher&qid=1585456822&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-1-catcorr), which I got two of through their Kickstarter campaign. The LifeStraw is not perfect, and has much smaller capacity than the PUR, but the water flows through in minutes, even after multiple cycles. I also love that the Lifestraw pitcher is glass (even though it's comprised of many plastic parts, including the filter holder inside). Currently I keep the PUR and a Lifestraw in my fridge, and use the Lifestraw most of the time. The PUR is just for backup and/or large quantities of water (as when making rice or pasta). Unless PUR fixes their useless filters, I'm switching out completely once there is a better high-capacity solution. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have to agree with everyone that these filters are horrible - they have been for about the last year. I have been a faithful PUR user for the last decade or so, and starting about a year ago, the filters don't work most of the time. With my most recent purchase (lead version; set of 3) the filter didn't work right out of the box after the prerequisite soaking, etc., which I've been doing for the last decade so know how to do properly. Thinking it was once again stuck, I shook the brand new filter as directed (have never had to do that until recently), and managed to get it to work briefly - for two jugs worth of water, slowly. Then the thing got stuck again. When this happened earlier this year, PUR customer service refused to acknowledge anything had changed about the filters or their manufacture, and made it seem like it was user error. Clearly this isn't true, as I and many other reviewers (who have used PUR for years, previously with no problem) can attest to. Please fix this, PUR. If you were able to produce working filters before, there's no reason you can't anymore. The minute a better option appears, many of us will no doubt defect. ... show more
