I think a pitcher filter is probably less effective than more expensive purification methods, but the water tastes and appears fairly pure, I like that the filter locks into place, and the replacement cartridges are pretty reasonably priced.

I needed to replace the filter in my Pur water pitcher. My city water is just about undrinkable without filtering. The generic filters are cheaper, right? So I purchased the generic filters! Bad mistake! They did not filter out that awful taste in my water. I then purchased the Pur filters and the water is fantastic! No off taste from the city water chemicals. It tastes like fresh spring water! Yes, they are more expensive, 3 Pur filters for about the same price as 4 of the generics. But do not be fooled! The Pur filters are FAR better and the generics are worthless! Not sure if they filter anything out or not but the water is still undrinkable to me! Generics are generally about as good as their name-brand counterparts, but not in this case!! Get the Pur filters!!! ... show more

Buying the 3 pack here is a better value than buying them at the store. I just wish they lasted a bit longer. I usually run mine a while past the recommended replacement time and the water still tastes fine!

2 out of three will stop the water flow after few times. Followed PUR support page, I hit light hit the thing few times with my palm, but then these tiny sand and black carbon flew all over place and afterward they just on the top part of the pitcher. But if it works the water is fine.

I drink a lot of water but can not stand the strong odor and taste of the chlorine in our water. This works great! I've read reviews about the top not fitting and such. If you pour slowly, which you don't need a strong stream for pouring a glass of water, it works fine. I was worried it was so loose that it just comes off, but it doesn't. This is the perfect size for me as well. I don't like to try and lift a heavy pitcher and this is a perfect size. I can get a couple of my large water bottles filled and then just fill it so that when I come back it's ready to go again. ... show more
