I chose the fan for its modern design, and the fact that it has traditional pulleys for the light and the fan. I prefer having one switch control the fan and the other the light which you can do with this model. I have replaced my original switch with a dimmer. The 2 LED bulbs that come with a fan are adequate and put out a good amount of light, and for my purposes dim nicely. I have installed several ceiling fans in my home, and this one does not differ in overall complexity. In general, it’s a bit of a pain installing ceiling fans, but the instructions make this one pretty straightforward. If you have someone to assist, it would be a bit easier as you wouldn’t have to climb up and down your ladder repeatedly. The fan functions nicely, and is relatively quiet, particularly at the low and medium levels. The pulleys function smoothly. I have replaced the original pulley handle with some decorative ones. The ones that come with the fan are pretty solid and have a good weight. Overall I’m happy with the fan and hope the simple design will translate to years of trouble free operation. ... show more

Bought one of these fans, loved it, and bought another! They're very well designed and sturdily packed. The 5-blade fans they replaced were, in comparison, stodgy-looking and much heavier. These fans were light enough to easily lift into place with the blades already attached. (As others have noted, clearance for attaching the blades is frustratingly tiny if you follow the directions and wait to attach them after positioning the fan in the ceiling.) Another way to save frustration is to give up on using wire nuts for the wiring. The downrod is short and access to the wires is too limited for a person who has huge man-hands. So I had Amazon send me a set of Wago snap-on wire connectors. (These make basic in-wall and in-ceiling wiring jobs easy, and they're recommended by the pros.) Use these connectors, and you're guaranteed to spew 75% less profanity during installation. These babies move a lot of air, especially considering they only have 3 blades, they're very quiet, and I didn't have to balance them at all. I had 2 fans that were just ineffective so I decided to upgrade some bedrooms. This fan is so nice that I’m eventually going to upgrade them all. After some research I learned that the fewer the blades the better because it creates less drag and lets air move around more freely. You can really tell the difference. I like that you can change the colors because my kids have different styles. My husband said they weren’t hard to install either. Just more time consuming because he was going up and down the ladder to get little screws when he dropped them. These are about $40 more than I paid for my original fans, but that was 12 years ago and obviously prices for everything have gone up. They’re actually a really good value for what you get! Highly recommend. We liked these so much that we ended up buying 3. They look classy, were very easy to install, and choosing the fan blade style was a nice bonus. The first two arrived in excellent condition. We bought the third a couple months later, and it arrived with lots of bubbles accidentally blown into the glass shade. We installed 4 fans. With the first one, we followed the instructions. But we realized that there was a better way to add the components. While my friend was installing the mounting devise, I was assembling the blades. Then we installed the blades. Then we added the blades to the housing+motor. And we connected it, together with the blades on, into the mounting devise. Since it has only 3 blades, it was not difficult. We learned that it was much more efficient doing it this way rather than trying to mount the blades when the housing has been attached to the mounting devise (this was crazy difficult). The fans are quiet, provide a nice air, are good looking but the light is not as strong/bright as I would have liked. The pull chains are super-super short, so you will need to buy chain extension (which I bought at Amazon for $10 for 5 fans) and they were very easy to replace). ... show more

It is atractive, moves more air than any of my 4 or 5 blade fans, has a bright light and all for a good price. I ordered a 2nd one to replace an existing functioning fan that has an old appearance. I suggest that it is a buy!
