My family bought this thing as a Christmas gift, and I love it! It actually has the function of identifying the size/ types of metal being detected: general junk, nails, coins, jewelry, and I think it has a dedicated jewelry mode. It also comes with a versatile shovel tool that has serrated edges. Pretty easy to put together, didn't even need a screwdriver. It also comes with two packs of 9v batteries, which are quite expensive by themselves.

This is a good basic metal detector. I ordered it to see if this hobby is something we will invest in more heavily. It works fine for finding metal in the yard and were excited to take it to the beach this summer. I wish it had more functions, but it is an entry level, off-brand detector.

I will admit, I know NOTHING about metal detectors. I got this one on a whim to play with my kid at the park. He found a couple of coins and someone's ring, so I think he might be hooked. It's pretty easy to figure out how to use. It's neat!

Some assembly required, but it's straightforward. The functionality is relatively basic, but it looks and feels quite professional. It works pretty well. There are a bunch of settings to play around with to get different detection levels and depths. It ended up not being great for what I wanted it for (to check for underground pipes around the house) because the detection only goes down to 10 inches, but I found out underground pipes around the house are buried at minimum 1 feet (12 inches) and sometimes even deeper to be below the frost line. Around here, they're over 3 feet deep. Still a nice little tool for taking to camping or beaches for a bit of fun. I found some rusty nails in my backyard with it.

While there are nice features, I have some concerns. Given the interest in gold hunting TV shows, it seems a little odd that it doesn't detect gold. It does detect silver and copper, which is often alloyed with gold in jewelry, so not detecting pure gold may not be a problem. Instructions are good: they're readable, in a large enough format that makes them easy to use them; they're like an adult comic book. I really felt like the multi-tool scoop they include as a "gift" was a real plus; you could go out right away and start using the detector. Another questionable aspect is on its Amazon page. One picture says it will penetrate 10 inches, then another picture says it will penetrate 20 inches. Show me a real sloppiness, poor attention to detail, and rush-it-to-market mentality; makes me wonder where they rushed design or manufacture or cut corners on the product itself.

Another Chinese Clone: the JuniHo Professional Outdoor Metal Detector. It is Available at an atractive price that makes it useful as a Entry Level Metal Detector or perhaps one for the older Children to use while Camping or a day at the Beach. **Most States have Laws in Place for Public Property -> Be sure to check these prior to using this Product in the States. While it doesn't compare to Name Brand Detectors, it does do a decent job of locating Metal Objects, especially Iron. The Included Instructions are the worse - especially the Use & Assembly instructions. The JuniHo Metal Detector is poorly made, it took a ton of fidgeting to get it where it should have been had the Instructions been Accurate & Complete. I gave the JuniHo Professional Outdoor Metal Detector a Very Low Four Star Rating -> almost Three Stars. For the Money, when used as a Gift, or perhaps a First Go at Metal Detecting I think this might be a good choice when compared to some of the other Metal Detectors in this Price Range.
