  • Great sturdy product !!!
I bought this PROBASE steel base to replace the standard plastic base on our hoop, and wow — what a difference! The stability is unmatched. We no longer worry about tipping during aggressive play or windy days. This base gives real peace of mind, especially with kids constantly shooting around. Installation was straightforward, and once it’s anchored in, it feels like a permanent fixture — no more dragging heavy bases filled with water or sand. It really makes the hoop feel professional and secure. It’s a bit of an investment, but absolutely worth every penny if you want a safe, long-term solution. This upgrade completely transformed our basketball setup and took the frustration out of backyard games. Highly recommend for anyone tired of dealing with wobbly hoops and cracked plastic bases! ... show more

  • Easy to turn, can serve multiple purposes.
I used to have 2 hoops with 2 plastic bases. One for the court and one for trampoline. When we moved to new house i wanted to find a different solution. This was the answer. It turns very easily, so it takes less than a minute to convert. If you try this, put a piece of wood under the pole. Easy to install. Very sturdy, much more stable than the plastic base filled with sand. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Great Product! Clever Design! Simple (but physically demanding) Install.
Spalding wanted as much to replace the cracked base of my son's portable basketball hoop as an entirely new unit. Found this for half the price. I did not notice the instructions said use a 10 pound sledge. I bought an 8 pound sledge. I probably had to whack the steel base 300 times to drive it 2' deep into the ground into clay. Would it have been easier with a 10lb sledge? Not sure. But the 8lb got it done. It's no joke though. On my installation, I had a sprinkler line that ran parallel to my driveway where this needed to be installed. Also, I felt like installing this at the edge of the driveway created a bit of a hazard for my car. So I buried a paver flush with the driveway, and that gave me maybe a foot of setback. I can not imagine that this thing is EVER coming up, even if I want to pull it up. Seems like a quality product, heavy steel, sturdy as heck. ... show more

  • A little expensive, shipped very fast but did well
Make sure you don’t have any underground lines... this cut right though our fiber internet. Not terrible to take out and move if you need to, basically used a cinder block and a pick axe Installation wasn’t that bad. Lots of bolts but if you have a pneumatic socket with compressor, installation is a breeze. I used a 8lb sledgehammer since Home Depot was conveniently out of 10lbs and a 16lb was overkill. The white braces that sit between the black block crack into pieces... also the black block will eventually start losing pieces. My advice is when you start hammering it in, you may think you aren’t making progress but after about 15-20 swings you are good to go. The biggest pain is trying to keep it straight but you can adjust afterwards. Leveling is a bit of a pain, the cheap $180 basketball hoops aren’t the straightest in the world but this worked on our angled driveway. Solid, barely wiggles but will hold up. ... show more

  • Well engineered
Impressively Engineered and Built to Last This is a well-engineered and durable upgrade from the flimsy plastic, water-filled bases. I was very impressed with the quality and design. I had planned for a two-evening installation, but to my surprise, I was able to take down my old hoop and install the new base by myself in under two hours. It’s solid, stable, and clearly built to last. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a serious, long-term solution. ... show more

  • Works as advertised.
I installed this product today. The directions are available through the use of a QR code printed on a slip within the box and viewed on your phone. My ProBase came with a wooden block, rather than the plastic block others had complained about. I soaked this wood in water for two hours (directions said at least an hour). Soaking the block in water helps to keep it from splitting while you hit with the sledgehammer. The parts all assembled easily. The tool list showed a 17mm wrench and ratchet. This was wrong. Seventeen millimeters is way too big. My nuts were 5/8 inches. While I was not able to install the device in the ground as quickly as the man in the video clip, I was able to do it in less than thirty minutes. Hammering a metal rod into the ground, and then removing it, gave the ProBase device a track into the ground. This was a good idea. In all the project took about ninety minutes. The final step requires lifting your old hoop assembly and placing it into the ProBase bracket. I was able to do this, but I needed help from three other people. All in all, this seems like a good system for utilizing the old hoop after its plastic base broke. There is a little wobble when the ball bounces hard off of the hoop, but my son said that the wobble was the same as when th ehoop was attached to the old base. ... show more

  • Extremely durable basketball base.
We purchased this base and coupled it with a high quality hoop and and base. It’s survived the Southern New Mexico winds for two years. This is a really good product that is well built and absolutely worth the purchase price.
