  • A must for hunters!
Style: Gen3 Jim Shockey Tall Tripod
I like this shooting stick the best! It’s lightweight to carry & the quick set trigger lets you set up quickly with one hand adjustments even on uneven ground! It’s much easier & quicker to set up than the ones where u have to adjust the height on each leg one at a time. A steady rest for longer shots & great for different height hunters! I love these shooting sticks and I would recommend the tripod! The monopod and bipod will work but the tripod is the best (& most stable in my opinion). ... show more

  • A must for thermal hunting
Style: Gen3 Jim Shockey Tall Tripod
I’ve been hunting at night with a thermal scope for the past five years or so. Unlike a day scope, using thermals in the dark requires you to scan repeatedly with the rifle, unless you have a hand-held scanner. Shouldering the rifle repeatedly can get tiring, so most people will use some kind of aid, like a monopod or tripod to help walk, scan and shoot. I recently retired my telescoping monopod which had put in good service. I’d seen the Primos Trigger Stick Gen 3 reviewed by Todd Huey on his Lone Star Boars channel, and decided to give it a try. After hunting with this for the past few weeks I’m very impressed. This thing is so good it makes me wonder how I managed for so long without it. It’s actually lighter than my old monopod. It's much, much steadier either as a monopod or a tripod. The head tracks beautifully. It deploys/adjusts in seconds. The finish is smooth, seems durable and feels like cerakote. I particularly like how the Stick adjusts so easily up or down in almost any type of terrain. You can use it from the sitting or standing position, in a hide or from a shooting chair or whatever. It comes with two heads, one for the shooting yoke (included) and the other as a spare. On my spare I mounted a BOG UltraLite clamping head for when I’m stationary and using the thermal camera app on my phone. The BOG head is a bit heavy for this setup, and the Trigger Stick a bit light; I would not recommend using it this way for walking around or in heavy wind. This device works best with the yoke alone. Bottom line is that so far the Trigger Stick has far exceeded my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone who hunts, day or night. ... show more

  • Surprising good.
Style: Gen3 Jim Shockey Tall Tripod
So far I'm very pleased with this tripod. It seems to be made of good materials and it's lightweight (for it's large size). The trigger grip portion has plenty of grip and feels solid when turning angles. One thing that's bothering me is I can't figure out what the locking mechanism is for. It didn't come with instructions and locking it doesn't seem to do anything. I really like how the legs will automatically elongate when the trigger is pulled and automatically find ground. It would have been even better if they included a bubble level in the handle. It's easy to set up and break down and looks great in camo. I like how it also came with a rest for cameras and sights. It's really improved my grouping at 50 yards with a 6.5 creedmore. Not that it was terrible without the tripod at that range/caliber, but it's a noticable improvement. I'll have to see how it works out this deer season. I felt it was a bit pricey but after using it and appreciating it's materials and functions, I feel the price is justified. It's stable. ... show more

  • Good Product, Not incredably advanced over previous models, Quick release usless until adapters are available. No Wrist Strap
Style: Gen3 Tall Bipod
Nice Hunting Tool. Comes with tag saying not to use as walking stick. Use as walking stick at your own risk! Clinks a bit when used that way due to the two metal legs. Very stable for shooting platform. Easily adjustable. Does NOT have optics adapter available as of this writing. So, even though this is advertised as dual purpose, as of NOW, it is only usable as a shooting platform, therefore, the Quick Release Head feature is useless until adapters are made available. Head rotates smoothly and without wobble, trigger adjustment lever is smooth and VERY easy to use. Does NOT come with the hand loop that the older models came with. Seems sturdy and capable, I used for climbing very rough terrain while Elk hunting in Northern NM, 4-5 days of heavy use. Performed admirably with no defects or malfunctions. (Again, I emphasize, this is NOT supposed to be a walking stick!) If you need the walking support, and it is necessary for you to lean heavily on this it may not support your weight and you might get injured. The star shaped plastic feet on the end of the legs grabbed grass and weeds when using as walking support, and when the legs get caught on something they will extend (pull out) and you have to pull the trigger to re-adjust to your comfort height. Handle is comfortable, trigger is placed comfortably for my large hands, easy to use with plenty of space for gloved fingers to fit under the trigger release mechanism. Overall, a good product, useful, and works as intended and advertised. THE ONLY PROBLEMS that I found; Very Pricey, Clinks trying to be stealthy, (but I have to add only when using as a walking stick, which is NOT recommended), and advertised quick release applications for Optics are NOT available YET. I'd buy it again, but it's worth the time to look for the best price, the Primos suggested retail is Too High. ... show more

  • The Ferrari of Shooting Sticks
Style: Gen3 Jim Shockey Tall Tripod
I have used the BOG Adrenalin Tripod for the longest time and while it is a great tripod for mounting optics, it lacks in speed of deployability which is essential in Coyote and Predator Hunting. The Primos Gen 3 shooting stick excels in this regard, I can deploy this tripod in a matter of seconds to the perfect height with the legs locked at the perfect angle. I have both the short and the tall variations as they each offer better advantages for different types of hunting. The tall tripod is great for sitting in blinds with your average camping chairs, or when you need to make a standing shot. The short tripod is great for predator hunting or when sitting low on the ground. I use the short tripod with my ALPS Outdoorz camping stool, it's very short and keeps me low. Very sturdy and well built, it's not Mickey Mouse in the least. This shooting stick also comes with a mounting plate for optics and arca swiss camera mounts, no need to buy one unless you need multiple plates for multiple optics. The best hunting tripod I've ever bought, twice. ... show more
