Description

Roof and gutter De-Icing cables help prevent costly damage from ice Dam formation by preventing freezing of un-insulated roof eaves, Valleys, gutters and downspouts, and allows water to drain freely. This product is for use on inclined, tab-shingle roofs and in downspouts and gutters only. To ensure water can flow to the ground, cable should be installed on Unheated portions of the roof (usually the overhang) as well as in Valleys, gutter and downspouts. Roof and gutter De-Icing kits are available in lengths from 30 ft to 240 ft. These products are found as De-Icing and snow melting sets primarily in northern markets beginning in early October.

  • This heat tape is working!
Style: Cable
It’s very long and takes a lot of planning, but I’m thrilled how well it works!

  • Snow arrived yesterday. System works like a charm!
Style: Cable
This product arrived on time, was well packaged and for once, the directions were really good! Plenty of useful drawings and clear instructions made the installation very straightforward and fairly easy. It takes very little effort to place the shingle clips. Make sure you have done your layout on paper so you aren't up there winging it! I am ordering a wireless remote on/off switch today for this to make it easy to control. This system draws 10A, the wireless (from Amazon) is rated for 15A so I expect everything will work fine. We turned it on yesterday as the snow came and it was 26 degrees, the perfect conditions for ice dams to form. Very soon, that classic zigzag pattern was evident in the snow and it was pain to see water droplets coming off the drip loops and into the gutter. Hope it lasts a few seasons as it does appear to be pretty well made. ... show more

  • Half the price and same quality as what you get in the big box stores.
Style: Cable
Half the price of the same that you would get in Big box hardware stores with the same form and function. Many more clips than those ones also. Added bonus, you can zip tie this back and forth along a mesh plastic fence, back it with some silver insulating bubble wrap and make walkway ice melters. You have to make the runs back and forth at most a couple inches apart though. ... show more

  • First impression - meh
Style: Cable
I recently bought four of these and installed them all over my roof. The day after I installed them, it snowed about 1/4” and I was able to test these cables out. Visibly there was only about 1/4” of snow removal on each side of the cable. The snow melted the next day, so not a great scenario to test their overall effectiveness…especially if it snows 2”+. I had to spend $4k in electrical outlets installation and fusebox adjustments just to support these cables, so I can only hope they do a better job during more robust snowfalls. ... show more

  • so far great
Style: Cable
So far these heating wires are great. Installation was not as bad as I thought it would be. It did take me two afternoons, but for a mom and two teen daughters we did a great job. I was a little nervous when we got hit with 2 feet of snow one night. They didn't solve the problem immediately and we still had some ice, but I was really pleased to see that despite the crazy storm they started to melt the snow. ... show more

  • Failed Less Than 1 Year
Style: Cable
Worked great, for less than a year. Now it's unusable - plugging it in immediately trips the circuit breaker - and I have an 8" ice dam making and ice on the front step making my front door unusable. Company won't respond. Thanks!
