The spill stays in place and all you have to do is wipe it off and use a little cleaner, (lightly). I’ve had it for over a year and it has stayed clean and is very comfortable. Drank over half a bottle of Kahlua Mudslide, which I spilled all over my blanket and seeped onto my sheets. I left it instead of taking care of it immediately which made my blanket and sheets ‘crunchy’. However, the waterproof part of the mattress protector actually kept my mattress completely clean.
